Worth it!
If you've ruptured your Achilles tendon... Commiserations! It's not fun. And it's not a quick recovery. You will have been given a Controlled Ankle Movement (CAM) boot and, after wearing it all day, there's no respite at night. Like me, you might find that sleeping in the boot is even harder than walking in it. It's hot. Things you don't notice during the day suddenly become impossible to ignore: a bit of pressure here, a bit of rubbing there. And you can't sleep. This is exactly what the night splint is designed to solve. And it works. As others have noted, the splint is not cheap, but it's a niche product, made by a small company, and there's little scope for economies of scale. You're paying for the expertise that went into its design too. In my view, it's worth every penny. It took me a bit of fiddling around making minor adjustments to the position and tightness of the straps to get it comfortable. It's a case of balancing security and comfort. I prioritised security and, the first night, I had tightened the strap that goes under the foot a little too much and, as a result, the splint was pressing on the top of my foot too much for a whole night's comfort. I was also concerned that the strap at the heel might cause problems, but it hasn't. In the end, I've found that I'm actually having the heel strap a little tighter than the calf and foot straps and that's got the balance between security and comfort about right. I've still found that a cotton wool make-up pad, half under the splint, at the edge nearest my small, outer toes helps: everyone's feet are different and I found that was a bit of a pressure point. However, it's worth the effort: I've been able to sleep well and the splint has remained secure. The recovery of my Achilles tendon remains on track too. In summary, then, this has been a very worthwhile purchase. It's a good example of a small company that's identified a problem and provided a solution. (Note: the Thetis website is also an excellent source of information about Achilles tendon injuries and recovery.) I would also suggest searching for the Evenup Shoe Balancer on Amazon: another helpful product but one that makes walking with a CAM boot a bit easier.

Excellent part of Achilles rupture rehab
After rupturing my Achilles I have worn this in bed every night for almost 10 weeks with my leg raised up on a pillow. I could sleep well and more importantly the splint stayed on and didn’t move. The Velcro straps fitted well and it’s only now - almost 10 weeks later they are loosening slightly. My consultant has said I can sleep without the splint after 10 weeks. During the day I’m in a vacoped boot and use crutches. I was not keen to sleep in the boot even though the doctor and physio said many people do.

works ( but overpriced )
It does the job (as described) but far too overpriced for a plastic , sponge lining and 3 velcro straps...

THIS PRODUCT IS GROSSLY OVERPRICED AND DOES NOT WORK.
THIS PRODUCT IS GROSSLY OVERPRICED AND DOES NOT WORK. ON MY CONSULTANT'S RECOMMENDATION I BOUGHT THE SPLINT TO WEAR IN BED AT NIGHT INSTEAD OF A SURGICAL BOOT. FROM DAY 1 IT DID NOT LIE FLAT ON MY LEG AS PER THE ILLUSTRATION AND KEPT TWISTING ROUND . BECAUSE OF THIS IT DID NOT HOLD MY ANKLE IN THE CORRECT POSITION AND THUS MY RUPTURED TENDON DID NOT HEAL. I WASTED 4 WEEKS UNTIL I SAW THE CONSULTANT AGAIN AND HE CONFIRMED THAT THE SPLINT WAS USELESS.

Great for sleeping
This is a life saver! Had Achilles tendons surgery and once I removed the cast I tried sleeping with the vacoped for one night and it was a nightmare. Luckily the surgeon recommended the split which is very comfortable and does the job perfectly. Sleep is a big component for quick recovery, really glad I bought it.

Good product for early post-surgery weeks
I ordered this splint and arrived after a few days, but i was already 5 wks after surgery. Already wearing an Ossur Rebound Air Walker, with 5 wedges. I believe the splint would have been great for earlier stages; right now i cannot use it because the position of my foot is not at maximum equine. Therefore I would advise for usage very early, before starting to take out wedges. Otherwise, great product, good quality, balanced price (no other comparable option).

Pictures no longer match reality
Pictures show a splint with considerable padding, the one I received has fabric edging with sharpe edges, and almost no padding at all, it’s marginally better than the boot, but given the cost I can’t help but feel a little robbed, the main discomfort is effectively having a plastic shell strapped to your shin, and with the padding that is missing this would be less of an issue. I’m going to return it because the reality of what it is now vs the images is too different.

Expensive, but worth it.
I ruptured my achilles and spent 3 weeks "In the boot" before I finally gave in with lack of sleep and started to research products like this. I was swayed by the positive reviews on this product and took the plunge, it has genuinely been the single best decision I have made in my recovery so far, its light, easy to fit and comfortable (as long as you don't overtighten the straps). My physio has said this is fine to use when resting/sleeping but obviously not for weight bearing (which is stated *in bold*, in the instructions). If you're struggling to sleep in your heavy achilles boot and your significant other is fed up of being knocked and poked by the cumbersome boot then I'd definitely recommend purchasing one of these.

Better than the Air boot to sleep
Definitely Mich better than wearing the Air Boot at night . Good product .

COMODO E SALVA-SONNO

Man får ont ovanför tårna. Borde vara lite mer vinklad. Även lite bredare.

Endlich wieder Schlafkomfort !!

Great but too expensive
This might have very well saved my n quality of life. Wore it for the first 2 weeks of Achilles recovery and was able to sleep and recover while keeping it in the ideal position for non surgical healing. Material is good quality and offers proper support, maintaining your ankle stable as long as it's the right fit. Since it's not bulky, it doesn't get in the way of sleeping, which is great. Unfortunately for the materials this takes, the price is way too much. This product can easily be sold by almost half the price and still maintain a good profit margin.
