Can I purchase two games for up to 8 players at the same time?

I don't see why not. Just would have to combine all the pieces and cards from both games so you have enough.

how are you supposed to play with the single black tiles? The instructions imply 1 player can use them all in 1 turn.

When we play all players start with one black tile that they can use at any time. As the game progresses anytime you cover a black square on the playing board you collect another black tile...again each player can use their collected black tiles at any time....now is that the right way? That's how we read the instructions....so....
