The pencil is simple to use. But from my experience, be sure to sharpen the tip. The tip just crumbled when I tried to use it but was easily sharpened and did not break thereafter. The only thing I don't like is you have to retract the lead every time you place it back into the holder. There should be a groove down the holder that allows the slider to keep its position. Otherwise it's a great pencil.

I bought one of these several years ago at a local box retail store. I have used it hundreds of times but it finally broke. I immediately went back to buy another one but found out they no longer carry this model and the replacement is not nearly as good. So, I found this one on Amazon and immediately ordered it along with more refill pencil leads. Definitely would recommend, this pencil is awesome. Only improvement would be a better sharpener, the built-in sharpener isn't real sturdy, but does work.

The pencil it good and does it’s job well but the holster/sleeve is very awkward so I end up just retracting the lead and putting it in my pocket. Since you have to retract the lead either way when putting it in the holster. It’s not practical when you’re working and have to set the pencil down somewhere and you have to retract it and extract it every time you use it. I would like to be able to holster and pull it out without having to take my thumb and slide the led in and out every time. I end up setting it down on my workbench or project for ease of use but I’ve had to hunt for it at times when I forget where I set it down which really defeats the purpose of having a holster.

My husband was really pleased with this gift. It would've been fantastic when we were building our home 23 years ago. There are still plenty of other projects he can use this for though.

Love this pencil. Very easy to use. Carrier clips easily to pocket, so always in reach (once I remembered not to lay it down like a flat pencil). Good hard lead does not break easily. Even with use the pencil makes a thin enough line, but the attached sharpener can bring back the point if needed. Easy to mark hard to reach places. Comes with 12 refills protected in a rotating cylinder. One of the options here is refills only, but for the price, just get another pencil that comes with the refills. I bought two more for friends who are professional woodworkers and they like it too.

This marker has several flaws in my opinion. 1- lead does not stay in holder. It fall out on the holster and sometimes drops out when using. The hole in the holder is not tight enough to securely hold the lead. 2-If the lead is extended the marker will not fit in the holder because the advance mechanism is too low and stops it from fully entering the holster. 3-The sharpener does not sharpen without holding the piece of lead. If you try to sharpen without holding the lead it just spins in the holder. Considering a return.

I was referred to this product by a coworker after he noticed I used a standard carpenters pencil. I've used the same pencil for quite sometime and although I was content with what I needed it for, I went ahead and purchased this product. I have to say, it's great! No only is it more precise, it's retractable so I can throw it in my work bag and not worry about it. Plus it comes with plenty of replacements.

The pencil sharpener's worthless the lead doesn't stay in it the quiver is pointless unless you completely retract it every time I need to try the pica but I do not recommend buying this one

I have a similar item that is an ink pen from a different manufacturer, and while I like that ink marker, I really appreciate that this one is a pencil. It is fairly well made but keep in mind it is a speciality tool so not really for everyday all day marking. It is made of light duty plastic. The pencil "lead" gives a nice dark non-smudging line, and slides easily but also locks well with positive stops that position the lead outside the body. A good value and good addition to my home shop. The only downside is the lead is pretty thick, so it won't work the best on smaller holes.
