Valley Forge, American Flag Pole, Aluminum Oak-Colored, 6 Feet, 2-Piece for Grommeted Flag,Multi color

This flag pole works perfectly. I used to have to leave my flag indoors on windy days but now it is out everyday and it works perfectly. Has not "furled" since I put the pole out and we have had a lot of wind. The pole looks great too and it's hard to tell it isn't real wood if you aren't touching it. The only downfall is that it doesn't come with instructions and just in case there is another person out there that is as perplexed as I was on how to use this pole here is my explanation: (1)Hook the top grommet on your flag to the hook that is at the top of the pole. (2)Take one of the clear plastic rings and slid it onto the pole from the bottom up. (3)The clear plastic screw is what goes thru the other grommet at the bottom of the flag and then screws into the plastic ring till it is tight on the pole. The top half of the pole spins in the wind so no need to leave the ring lose. The second clear ring and screw are extra. Enjoy.

I, like many of you, was on a quest for the perfect flag pole for our porch flags. I went to every store imaginable in my area and looked online too but never found what I was looking for - one that didn't allow the flag to hang up. I tried to rig up a homemade version using various clips and ties, but to no avail, it would still need to be untangled and worse yet tore a couple of my wife's prized Tolen (sp) flags at the bottom seam due to hooking on the clips. While I was laid up the past couple weeks, I had time to really look into this again and found this pole. To make a long story short - buy this pole and you will not regret it. It fits the holder perfectly, is made of aluminum and spins freely, which I can't say about other brands I've looked at. And although it is a two piece pole, which I really didn't care to have, it appears that the "joint" will be very strong and sturdy for years to come. My only "watch-out" &/or issue - I had a hard time screwing the top piece to the bottom due to the spinning feature that the top section has. I used a small folded rag and a pair of channel lock pliers (gently squeezed so as not to crack the plastic at the joint) to get the section to screw the final turn and a half. This isn't by any means a reason not to buy this product.

5.5 YEAR UPDATE: Flag pole is still holding up like a champ, other than the paint. It has faded drastically. May replace with a new one (same exact one), or paint this one, not sure yet. The flag gets direct sun for about half of the sunlight hours per day. I have never had to touch the pole other than the replace the flag, as it works beautifully in combination with the heavy duty brass spinning rings I purchased. Original review: Pole is thin aluminum but seems to withstand 20-30mph gusts. Doesn't tangle at all especially when used in combination with some high quality brass swivel mounts for my flag, also purchased on amazon.

We've had this pole nearly four months now and it functions well. We fly seasonal flags from a mount on the side of the porch. These is a slight upward angle to the pole. The the flag would often wrap around the previous wooden pole and remain so until (A) the wind eventually unfurled it or (B) I got the ladder out and unfurled manually. With this pole, the upper body of the pole, to which the flag is attached, rotates around it's axis so that the flag doesn't wrap around the pole. So far it is working great. I'll update if something changes this winter. UPDATE: 05/19/2014 This flagpole survived a significant winter that came early and lasted long with over 320 inches of snow, a great deal of wind and temps to -20F. It still works as well as I hoped. I never once had to put the snowshoes and climb the bank to untangle the flag -- I'm pleased with this purchase.

This flag pole is well-made and sturdy, and the bearings allow it to rotate easily and keep my flag untangled. If/when it does happen to wrap up, it is only a few moments until the next bit of wind unfurls it again. Upon receipt and assembly, I noticed a mismatch in the color of the two sections - one was slightly lighter than the other. When I called Valley Forge to inquire about it, Dave immediately expressed concern, and arranged for a replacement to be sent out. THAT is how to take care of customers! The new unit looks great, and my flag was flying proudly for the 4th. I will definitely buy from Valley Forge again, and will recommend them to my friends.

What I like is that its a wood look with the durability of metal. If you're familiar with the dipping/transfer process then you'll know how they acheived the wood look. From 10 feet away it looks identical to wood. My only beef is; 1. I used it with a 3x5 flag and the pole bows and flexes more then I think it should. 2. The clear plastic rings are crap. The plastic screw is suppose to be backed out so that it allows the ring to spin around the pole freely(preventing tangline of the flag). The issue is the screw backs out and the flag falls off. This happened to me overnight. Luckily there are 2 in the package so I was able to use the 2nd. This time I cranked it down till it tightened to the pole. The flag now tangles a bit, but as a bonus the 2 part pole has a swivel on the top half allowing the flag to unravel after its wrapped a couple of times. I will still be ordering some new rings though. Also, it did not include instructions, but I was able to find them on the manufacturers site.

We live on the Atlantic coast, where winds are often gusty and unpredictable. For over thirty years we have put up flagpoles from our oceanside second-floor deck and been at a loss to prevent flags from wrapping themselves around the pole or otherwise getting tangled. The only solution when winds started howling was to remove the flag and the pole--easy enough when everyone is home, but not so easy when everyone is busy doing something else. Very tough on flags, to say the least. This flagpole is the first to deal with the problem effectively. The spinning effect allows the flag to ease with the breeze instead of fighting it. Great idea! The 2-piece pole was easy to assemble, attaching the flag took a couple of minutes, and from the street level the oak-colored aluminum looks like real wood. Definitely a smart investment.

This flag pole is great! That is, previously I had a pole that didn’t rotate, and my flag was almost continuously wrapped around it. I bought this one to solve the problem, and 90% of the time it does! Also, it is visually attractive. I also bought a Valley Forge wall mount for it that works great with it. It came with 2 rotator clips, when only one is needed. I guess the second one is a back up??

This is great because the top portion of the flagpole spins along with the flag, so more more flags tangled around the pole after a windstorm!
