I initially purchased some other strap-style cabinet safety locks when my toddler started learning how to open things. And they worked - but they were a total pain to open! They were the kind that came with a little indent type mechanism on the front of the locking part, and you had to slide that button to release the lock. But I often ended up having to use a fingernail on the inside edge to get it to slide, because no traction for wet or greasy fingers (and I was mostly using these in the kitchen, so...) I also had to deal with the strap getting shut in the door when the cabinets got closed. Same issue with drawers. Had the same kind on my diaper changing station drawers, and it made it tough to open while already dealing with squirming little one, and then got stuck in the drawer when closing.THIS product, on the other hand, was a game changer. The two buttons on the outer edges of the locking mechanism are super easy to press, making it much, much easier to open. And the swivel function on the strap means that it swings down and out of the way when you open the cabinet, so no more straps getting caught in the doors/drawers when shutting. This was one of those products that isn't glamorous or exciting, but it made me SO happy because it eliminated some of my everyday struggles. They are a tiny bit pricier than the kind I originally purchased, but very much worth those few dollars, in my opinion.
