Learn to Use a Vernier Scale
I use calipers primarily for woodworking and cabinetry. They measure thickness, inside and outside dimensions and depth. It is very useful for layouts of cabinets where a high degree of accuracy is desirable. The entire unit is constructed of Stainless Steel. The major parts are very strong. The units of measurement are clearly inscribed on the SS body. It is easy to read the numbers. The inside measuring jaws are very sharp at the tips and I use these to mark very accurately holes for screws and Forstner bits.I purchased this for the ability to work in millimeters. I do not believe in electronic readouts. The biggest reason for this is the failure of the electronics renders the unit unusable. If you plan to work in metals then you may want to consider spending considerably more (ie. 5X as much for Starret and its peers). This is an 8" blade that allows me to take direct measurements across an 8" board. The fit of the sliding parts is very smooth and easy to accomplish. This unit can comfortably measure accurately to within 1/1000" of an inch or 1/100th of a mm. In order to use these scales it is essential to know how to use the vernier scale. Youtube videos will keep you out of trouble. For the amount of money spent, I now own a good usable caliper that eliminates using formulas to convert mm to in. or in. to mm. The caliper can be ordered with longer or shorter blades. This one is ideal for 90% of your woodworking needs. It is a good product at an economic price.

Good value for the price.
This is good for the intended use (home workshop).Build quality is good for the price and there was zero damage. Its accurate to the limits of the design - I did not believe the little business card style certificate so I cross checked with a set of micrometer setting bars and a few feeler blades. No differences to complain about. I will use this without worrying the measurement accuracy

Exactly what I needed
I've checked the instrument out as accurate. I'm very pleased.

Workable caliper
Serves the purpose I bought it for. Its movement is a little on the rough side, some machine oil helped loosen it up. The vernier is a little bit too reflective making difficult to read.

Great First Impressions and First Use
I am accustomed to the flimsy calipers you can buy from Harbor Freight and I was somewhat expecting similar quality (or lack thereof) with this product. I was delightfully proven wrong when I got it. First, it's quite heavy. The materials seem robust enough for use as a metal worker. Second, it came with a nice plastic hard case, despite being a mechanical measuring tool with no batteries. Third, the markings are etched, not printed, which is extra great for a filthy metal worker like me. Fourth, the a ton slides nicely and the screw keeps it still without having to over tighten. Just hand tight is fine. Fifth, having both metric and imperial measurements is always best. Love this caliper so far based on first impressions and first use.

Disappointed
My trusty old vernier caliper disappeared so I needed a new one. Looked online, decent reviews...well they either have changed the product or those who reviewed it are not using it on a regular basis especially the standard (inch) side of the caliper. The one half (1/2) marking should be longer making them more distinguishable. The lines and number on the metric side are too long, crowding into the numbers on the standard side. Granted I need reading glasses these days but I have been using a caliper for over 40 years and wish I would have either seen this flaw before ordering. Oh well I will try and make do...seriously though, any company selling something like this should know better. Do not buy this, trust me!
