I doubt it but they're every bit as heavy, durable and functional as the first vise-grip (as we used to call them) I got from my father decades ago. For years I only saw them in the large sizes but the smaller ones, along with needle-nose version, are really handy to keep around.

Why do they always become loose after you have readjusted them?

The trick to using locking pliers (they were called "vise-grips" when I first saw them years ago) is adjusting the tension with the end screw so the jaws lock with just enough tension to hold securely without damaging the material you're gripping. I start with the screw over-tight and gently apply pressure, then slowly unscrew while holding the jaws until the jaws can securely "snap" close. It's a feel thing you may need to practice but once you get it, it'll be a relatively quick adjustment next time. If the jaws are slipping loose, open the jaws, tighten the screw, close the jaws gently as far as they'll go, and ease up on the screw until you have a secure hold. I have this set of pliers, they're as well-built as any I've had, and they work great.

Wasn't sure these would be up to abuse. Very impressed. As good as very expensive sets. Update a month on , the long nose grips don't quite meet at the tips, but still works well
