Pros Overcome the Cons
I use these as a greener (and more comfortable) substitute for pads. Here are my thoughts:1) They're comfortable. And they don't leak like pads when I sleep. In fact, I haven't had them leak at all. Yay!2) The underwear are black, so it can be hard to tell when they're full. But I can usually see where they're damp, and when the damp patch hits the piping along the leg holes, that's a good indicator.3) I'm 5'3", about 124lb. After reading others' reviews, I bought a Large. They are, well, large on me, fitting more like a Hanes 7 or 8 underwear (I usually wear 6 and they're plenty roomy).4) They take forever and a day to dry after washing. Like, I'd hang them up by my woodstove and they still weren't dry after 24 hours. I get that they're supposed to be absorbent, but that's just not going to work when I need to use them again! Rolling them in a towel a few times after washing and gently squeezing to get the water to seep into the towel helps a lot, bringing the drying time down to 4-10 hours (depending on conditions and how much water I was able to get out).5) I haven't yet been able to test these under very sweaty conditions; hopefully they won't leak (I've had issues with other similar underwear, but it's a little cold for that this time of year).Overall, I'm very happy so far with these and hope they'll last for quite a while.

Coverage is Key
This is my second attempt at menstrual underwear. For a while I had a brand (can’t remember what it was) that was crazy tight and the absorbent part only covered about as much as a panty liner. Every morning I would have leaked up my buttcrack. I haven’t slept in these new ones yet but so far they’re so much better. The absorbent part goes halfway up the front and all the way up the back. It does narrow out toward the top so I’m a bit worried about that but otherwise very hopeful.I’m usually between a medium or large but got medium due to other reviews. They’re a bit tight but that will just help keep them in place.I like the thick waistband and it’s sewn into place so won’t move around once washed. The real star of the show and what even prompted me to write a review is the gusset. If you have a vagina you know that most underwear designers think that we just barely need a gusset to cover us. Whoever made these knew wider is better. I didnt get out a ruler but I would say the medium is about three inches wide at the narrowest part. This week is my first chance to really test these panties. If they hold up to my expectations I’ll leave this review as is, if they disappoint me I’ll be back in the next week to edit it.

Practical Leak Protection
I have a rather heavy flow, and leaks often occur during the first few days to the point that it can be hard to keep up with during the normal course of the day. Generally, I hope my period starts on a Friday afternoon so that I can stay home during this time, but we don't always get what we want. These panties are a game-changer. While I don't get the impression these panties would absorb a major leak (overnight use), they do buy you time to get to the bathroom if you're not in a position to get to the bathroom quickly. I would not use these without a tampon or pad - just as a form of secondary leak protection. These panties saved me from an embarrassing time at a conference where frequent bathroom trips weren't an option. It is important to know that they do run small; I was glad I read the reviews and sized up. The material feels like a bathing suit bottom, but without as much give/stretch (it has some, but very little, so if you're between sizes, size up). They are light and cover the important parts, and are mostly comfortable. For reference, I weigh 151-152 lbs. and am 5'6 tall. I carry most of my weight in my hips and thighs, and I ordered a large size; they fit perfectly.

Wish I would've discovered these sooner!
I can't believe it took me so long to find these! They are amazing when looking for an extra sense of security during that time of the month. Now, mind you, I do not use these alone as the only form of absorbency. My flow can be extremely unpredictable, I use these as an extra barrier in case the tampon type (light, reg, super) can't handle what my body produces. For yrs I was going through super plus every hour and sometimes I couldn't get to a bathroom that many times in such a short time frame, these allow me to not stress about the time as much. I've recommended these to some of my friends that were using panty liners for that extra protection with tampons, these are way more comfortable & the fact that they are reusable is way more cost efficient (also environmentally friendly as it reduces the waste in this world). One thing I will say is make sure you get the right size. I originally ordered a medium due to the sizing information and reviews, well those felt very much like a diaper. I reordered the small and they fit way better. As it will feel a TAD bulky, its not nearly as bad as wearing a pad or even a panty liner (with the security that they won't move around & shift throughout the day). If you live in thongs/gstrings or go commando these might not work for you. But for anyone else these are definitely worth the investment. Plus, visually they are not so bad. Once I got the smalls that properly fit my bf had no idea they were "period panties" to him they just looked like normal panties (at least until he got closer, like within a foot of them). Indiscrete!
