I purchased these to use for heat sinks when soldering components. Highly recommended!
I purchased these to use for heat sinks when soldering electronic components. Removing the plastic insulation is easy and they work great for my needs.

Works well for other crafts
I’m using the clips as a “stop” bead for jewelry making.

Good quality, easy to work with
I use these clips not as Heat Sinks, but as Micro Clips for Model Rocketry launchers. The jaws are nicely long and perfectly flat; they grip the igniter wires perfectly. It was easy to solder the leads to these clips. The package includes vinyl boots for the clips. While I don't need them for rocketry, they'd be helpful in other applications.

Painted copper, not made of copper
I happen to have real copper alligator clips I use for heat sinks and regular sized ones can be pricey. When I first saw these small ones (more of the size later) I immediately thought of the Testor's copper paint I used on models as a kid. It's a matte finish that, when scratched with a file, reveals a silver-ish metal of unknown composition instead of shiny unoxidized copper. I uploaded an image showing the two clips side by side. It may be a subtle under the light I had, but up close the difference is clear. Applying a 700F soldering tip to it, it does conduct heat, but, by my admittedly unscientific comparison I don't think it conducts as well as the copper clip. Now about that size: the description says "small" and the dimensions in one of the images is shows "40 x 11mm" for the length - which makes no sense to me. The longest side is about 28mm. These can work as heat sinks or "heling hands" for soldering, you may need a needle nose or tweezers to move them around in a tight area. And you can construct your own test leads with them using maybe 12-18 AWG diameter wire. I will say I do like the "duckbill" tips (more like a dolphin, actually) that allow me to grip think wires without worrying about clip teeth damaging them. But these clips - and their plastic hoods are definitely not the size you can just slip over normal sized multimeter probes and use to clip them to surfaces. Just getting the hoods over them requires work and you can easily nick your fingers doing so. Bottom Line: Useful, but in a more specialized way then I hoped.

clamping
I use these as micro clamps on model boats. Small size is great for tiny parts.
