SST Mill Tram (1/2")

This tram guage set works very well, it's high quality and the instrument is square which is VERY important to be accurate. It would be nice if it came with a case for storage.

Its not often I write a review...and those rare exceptions are products that really knock one out of the park! Machine tram is one of those things that can make a huge difference in the parts you make but doesn't directly make you any money. With no direct profits, having a cheap and painless way to check it and get back to making parts is what I was looking for.There is a number of products on the market that have a fairly similar basic design to this one...The decision to go with this particular one was originally based on its price-point being more attractive than the other options. Having now used this on a number of machines, I love it! The main unit is well made (as expected with any piece of metrology equipment) and all the text crisp and easy to read...which leads to the real feature this one has compared to other units i've tried. Other similar tools all have the indicators set at a fixed width, while this unit has multiple spots the indicators can spaced at. The ability to move them in closer has been great, it allows me to use this on the lathe or to quickly check my smaller precision vises that other have just been too big for. After using some of the closer indicator holes a few times, i'm confused why other manufactures opted to not build this into their offerings? I'll likely buy a 2nd one soon just to keep at home so I don't have to remember to grab the shop one.

The tool quality is great. Made for tramming my Bridgeport for easy and quick. I particularly like the anodized finish on the main body. My only complaint would be a lack of a storage case. I wouldn't mind paying a few extra dollars if it came with a case.

It's a useful tool but...The alignment tool is made of quality material and the dial indicators seems to be pretty accurate and repeatable.In the other hand, the ''T'' shape is slightly misaligned. The good news is that it's still can be used with only one dial and rotating the chuck to get an accurate reading. I was able to tram my mill very quickly.I would still recommend this product but double check if the shaft is really squared with the dial holder before using it with the double indicator method.

Really easy to use l wish I had gotten this sooner. It works so simply and the adjustability of the dial indicators is a big plus.
