Clever Coffee Dripper With Bonus Filters Included (Clear)

It works as advertised. But it will stain over time - I don't even bother to wash it after each use - I just rinse it out. The stained look does not bother me. As others may have stated - my best results are achieved by : 1) Using the proper filter. 2) Pouring boiling water into the coffee-less with filter dripper first and placing the dripper onto the coffee mug to release that hot water into my empty coffee mug. I leave that water in the mug to help warm up the mug. 3) I place the dripper back onto the little drip tray included with the dripper and measure in my ground coffee. 4) I pour the hot water onto coffee just enough to cover the coffee grounds and wait for 30 seconds. This will allow the grounds to bloom. 5) I then pour the rest of the water onto the sides of the filter walls - up to where the vertical ridges in dripper end which is about enough water for 1 coffee mug. 6) I then wait for 2 minutes for the coffee to brew. 7) After brewing I stir the top of the coffee brew to break up the top layer. I empty the hot water out of the coffee mug, and then place the dripper onto of the mug to release the coffee into the mug. I watch and check the coffee so as to not overflow the mug. Stirring the top layer makes sure the coffee settles to the bottom so that all the water is running through all the coffee as it drips into the mug instead of having the coffee lining the top edges of the filter. All told it's less than 5 mins (including bringing the water to boil) to a fresh piping hot mug of morning coffee. It's a nice little morning routine for me.

I originally bought the smaller size thinking it would be perfect for one standard coffee mug, but it didn't quite cut it. I would make my coffee with about 2-3 tablespoons of ground and fill water right to the absolute top edge of the dripper. This yielded about 2/3's of a coffee mug for me because of the water trapped in the grounds and the paper filter. I tried numerous ways to get more out and simply wasn't enough. I had to go this larger/standard size which then gets me about 1.5 -2 mugs of coffee, maybe a bit more on occasion. I was very impressed with the coffee and easy of cleanup. I love my french press, but sometimes the silt is a bit much, and the extra parts and cleanup aren't always great. This gave me french press quality and then some, flavors are even more smooth honestly, and the cleanup and speed of use is fantastic. Absolutely love this method! Only drawback is with even the large size you are only getting about 2 cups, so it's definitely more of a personal brewing device than family/couple device. For how cheap it is, and how versatile (works great with pre-grind, your own grind, coarse, drip whatever), buying multiples if you have the counter space is an option. Very impressed with this tool, such a small innovation over a normal dripper, but a huge difference. The valve works perfect and hasn't leaked at all for me, and cleanup is honestly pull out the filter and grounds and throw away, rinse quick, and set it back on your counter. No flaws at all in my opinion for making a mug or two of great coffee. Definitively my go-to brewing method now.

Our Cuisinart drip finally bit the dust. So we went online looking for alternatives. Since we already use loose leaf tea every day via an infuser, we thought we would try this. My wife also wanted to get some of the oil of her coffee out to help keep her cholesterol down. This works out great, inexpensive, easy to use and clean and most of all it makes a great cup of coffee. For us, using good coffee, it makes about the best cups we have had. Of course others might want a cup with the oils still in it, to each their own as they say. BTW we let it brew for 4 minutes, using water just under the boiling point (we break up the coffee floating at the top with a spoon at one minute). That makes a perfect cup to our taste. Recommended.

Because you need to know, in order, my fave coffee makers: French Press, AeroPress, Clever Dripper. French Press and those yummy oils/fines aggravate my tummy. AeroPress is delish, but I need 3 lined up one after the other for my morning tankard. The Clever Dripper resolves both of these whines: Good strong flavor and volume! I still need two, but it's waaay easy. There is no cleanup, just rinse with warm water. The only times I got sludge in my cup was when I stirred the grounds during the pour phase. The little stopper in the bottom does get stained, but so what? I got the model with the swoopy handle and it's more substantial than it appears in pictures. It comes in a nice box, with filters. Very pretty, very easy, good coffee.

I love the clever dripper. Honestly, the ratio level work to good clean cup of coffee is the best I’ve found. I can do it half asleep. I don’t want to fuss over a pour over. I have purchased two so that I can make two cups at once. This is important if you’d like to have friends. I have a good grinder and very mediocre scale and kettle. I boil the water and then splash a bit of cold to knock the temp back a slight bit. I use 60g to a liter when I make coffee. Usually in the clever dripper I do 360 grams water. I have made smaller and I have made up to 500g. I follow the approach promoted by James Hoffman of putting the grounds in the water and then stirring. 4 1/2 minutes and then plop it on the mug. I change the time and ground and sometimes temp if I’m using a new coffee and it doesn’t come out as well as I’d like. But that’s a great starting place.

The Clever Dripper design produces a delicious cup of coffee in under 3 minutes. A big selling point is that unlike French presses and even the Aeropress, there is little chance any coffee grind remnants will pass to your cup of coffee. I read other reviews stating the plastic legs that hold the dripper up during the brewing process tend to break overtime. I've used the Clever Dripper for 5 months with daily use, and so far no signs of degradation yet. My two grievances from giving this a 5 star review, are that the applicable coffee mugs used to transfer the coffee is of a specific dimension (about 2-3 inches) and thus not compatible with larger coffee mugs. Secondly, although clean up is a breeze (quick rinse) coffee staining and eventual build up of limescale are bound to occur. Potentially soaking the dripper in vinegar could resolve this (I haven't tried yet). That being said, don't expect this to be a beautiful piece of kitchenware to leave out. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the Clever Dripper's performance, ease of use, and would recommend the product.

This is a wonderful improvement on the original conical coffee drip system. However, it does not fit nicely over larger sizes of mugs. I have adapted to this in my own way and am only slightly less than ecstatic with this purchase so even with this inconvenience, I could not give it less than 5 stars. This is a staple! It is so good because it allows for better extraction since you can soak your grounds for a few minutes before allowing it to drain into your cup. It is made of sturdy material and I can find no flaws in its overall usefulness. It is easy to clean and does not seem to become stained. I am a convert. You will not be disappointed. **March~~After four months, this is still like new. No problems, breakage, leakage, or diminishing usefulness. My $50 French press is just eye candy now. sigh. The clever is used at least once/day. Another thing I like to do is throw 10 tea bags in and let it steep, refill a couple of times and it is easy mess free iced tea. April 2019– After two and a half years of daily use it is still as described above. It remains the perfect and only way I make coffee. It functions as brand new. September 2022–still going strong. Can’t believe I’ve had it for five years. Time flies like arrows. Fruit flies like bananas.

This very clever device offers the best of both French press and pour over coffee with none of the drawbacks. I love the taste of French press coffee but never liked dealing with the fines and the messy cleanup. The technique and timing required for pour over is more demanding than I want to deal with first thing in the morning. The Clever Coffee Dripper is simple and practically foolproof. Cleanup is also a breeze. I like that the lid keeps the coffee warm. I also appreciate that it came with 100 bonus filters and that the replacement (No. 4) filters are easy to find in my grocery store and are not expensive proprietary filters like Aeropress and Chemex. I wish it fit over a larger mug but even so, this has become my favorite single-serving coffee maker.

Nice way to make a couple of cups of good tasting coffee

Very easy to use. I do not have a gooseneck kettle so I did not want a simple pour over cone. This clever dripper is much more forgiveable and works well. I was worried about the plastic breaking but it is a good thickness. The coffee comes out so smooth using this over my drip coffee maker. I wish they made a larger version to fill an entire carafe in one go.

Habe jetzt den Clever Coffee Dripper einige Wochen im Einsatz und bin begeistert. Ich trinke vorwiegend Filterkaffee und manchmal French Press. Der Clever Dripper liegt genau zwischen diesen Zubereitungsmethoden. Da man das heisse Wasser ein Weilchen im Dripper stehen läßt, entfalltet sich ein wunderbares Aroma. Da im Gegensatz zur French Press der Kaffee am Ende durch einen herkömmlichen Filter läuft, ist der Kaffee deutlich klarer. Positiv finde ich auch, daß der Clever Dripper mit normalen 1x4 Filtern bestückt werden kann. Bei meinen anderen Filterhaltern brauche ich meistens Spezialfilter (Hario V60,Kalita Wave)

I enjoy the ability to make a coffee of a French press flavour without all the bad oils and without the grinds in my cup. It is such an easy process for clean up without the mess of the French press.

Makes an amazing cup of coffee! Easy to use, easy to be consistent. Go for it. Much better than a v60 in my opinion.
