After listening to this "new" CD - and that is not a mistake to call it "new" - I realized that the trashed version the bulk of the bands' members envisioned for the album was far, far different than the originally published product. I always loved the old one, true, but it always lacked the layered, mysterious quality of "Meddle", "Wish You Were Here" and "The Wall". Naively, I just thought the band was heading in a different direction. But now I finally understand the cause of "A Momentary Lapse of Reason's" flatness. And that is not from merely reading the insert. It also comes from simply comparing one with the other. While the original could be said to have suffered from a bewildering artistic repression (judging by its sound), it is better to say it suffered from lack of collaboration with those creative and honorable band members who were, sadly, unable to "right the ship" prior to its listing beyond recovery. Anyway.... Musically, I want to point out that the bass and the drums (and other low frequency effects) are not just "improvements" of the original but are actually "new creations" that hew tightly to the original songs. Thankfully, this new rendering brings to bear a night and day quality improvement which is, in this new project, in-your-face obvious. These improvements are millennia ahead of the bass and drums on - let's face it - the hobbled cut of yesteryear. The bass - whether from guitar, drums, or other effects - is taut, clean, and celebratory - as well as a bit unnerving in its occasional reach down to subterranean frequencies. My listening at home uses NAD/Definitive Technology/Sunfire/Carver products and the "new album" with its corrections was instantly recognizable as the jewel it always could be. However, when I fired it up in my car... which has sound deadening material throughout and uses a combination of Class A/B and Class G Soundstream (2nd Gen, 2009) amps, Boston Acoustics Pro Series 5se components, an overdamped 12" subwoofer in a heavily braced and sealed .9 cubic foot box ported directly into the cabin, Pioneer DEH-80PRS head unit with mic'ed time alignment, listener position assignments, and auto-EQ curve baselining... it was only then I realized that it was almost impossible to consider the two albums similar anymore. With not a hint of nostalgia, I threw the original CD away. That's how much better the "new" album is in all respects.

An amazing re edition of Gilmour's masterpiece.

It's not as good as the original album mix. A nice alternate version though.

Didn't realize exactly what a half mastered vinyl was. I received the vinyl and put it on and immediately noticed it seemed quite slow. Perhaps I was having a " Momentary Lapse of Reason" pun intended! I switched it from 33rpm to 45rpm and suddenly everything became quite clear. Ahhhhh! Those clever sound engineers did something completely out of the normal realm of typical vinyl. It absolutely does make a difference in sound quality that even I with my untrained ear could hear. Well worth the purchase price and I'm very pleased with this double vinyl.

Volver a escuchar a Pink Floyd en este cd remasterizado fue muy disfrutable porque la remasterización es tan buena, que se logran escuchar sonidos que no apreciaba tanto en la grabación original. Muy recomendable a buen costo!!

Love this, well worth the money

É il remix di una album che secondo me era penalizzato dal mix originale, troppo cupo e scuro. Tant'è che preferivo ascoltare (alcune) di queste canzoni nelle loro versioni live in Delicate Sound of Thunder. Qui invece suona aperto e più naturale, meno compresso e sintetico, il suono ha più dinamica, anche le voci ne guadagnano e i singoli strumenti si distinguono più chiaramente. Insomma si fa ascoltare molto meglio. É come se avessero portato le scelte di mix fatte in The Division Bell, tutte più naturali e meno stancanti secondo me, in quest'album. Ne vale la pena? Secondo me sì.

Mir hat das Werk auch in der neu abgemixten Version sehr gut gefallen. Top Preis- Leistungsverhältnis !!!
