Absolutely NOT a toy! Great SUPERVISED trainer.
DOOM here to tell you about these super cool knife trainers! These are great tools to begin safely teaching a child knife safety. Please heed my words that these are absolutely NOT toys. The blade edge, though dull to the touch, is quite capable of cutting with enough pressure. It is also quite stabby with a good thrust. That out of the way, let’s talk about the knives. They are very sturdy, function just like a lock-back with a steel blade would, and are actually quite nice.I bought two of these kits so that I could mix the colors making the blade and lock stand out for easier identification while teaching my daughter. The lock press is very firm, to the point that my daughter was not able to disengage it, but we’ll keep trying.Parents: buy this as a teaching tool for your child, but PLEASE supervise the use. Although advertised as something for kids, this item is very capable of sending somebody’s soul across the rainbow bridge if used improperly whether by accident or with ill intent. This item needs to be treated as a tool for educating/training and respected as a weapon. This knife, ised improperly, could do serious damage to life, limb or eyesight. Please use good judgement and enjoy teaching your kids!DOOM out!

Impressive
As a knife collector and one who refurbishes knives I can tell you this is an excellent knife. It's not your typical toy or kitchen plastic as some have stated. The blade is not a plastic toy, it is called G-10 which is a durable fiberglass and epoxy resin, and formed under high temperature and pressure, G-10 is unlike other polymers, it will not melt. G-10 is also resistant to temperature and is extremely lightweight. I was able to put an edge on it as sharp as any knife in my collection. As far as assemble I was able to put it together in about 3 minutes, without any reference to the instructions. This is an excellent EDC knife and would also make a great gift.

Plastic toy! Not a knife
They hide that the material is called G10 but for all intents and purposes. It’s plastic. Super disappointing. I thought I was getting real knife kit but designed for kids. Nope, 100% toy. Returning today

Great for a kid’s first pocket knife!
My kids were so excited to get these for birthdays. These make an excellent first pocket knife for learning knife safety. You still have to be careful with the sharp point but the edge is dull enough to avoid sepia injuries. My only complaint is that the spring loaded button to close it is pretty tough for my kids to push down with one thumb. My son has to push it against a table edge to loosen the blade before closing it. Granted he is only 5, so maybe better for older kids.Overall these have held up well to regular use and seem pretty well made.

Very durable.
This is a good product and it is a very sharp knife. It is okay for a mature 7-year-old. My seven-year-old grandson loves this knife. He loves to cut card board and build stuff.
