Any idea if this would be a decent motor for a mini-lathe?

The motor has tons of torque for its size. It can output the power they claim. However they are not being honest on the duty cycle. The data says that it can deliver the rated power continuously. It can't. I bought it to power a battery powered gokart and it worked well for 10 minutes until it was smoking hot. So my answer is maybe. If it has the power you need to operate the lathe then it will work. If however you need it to put out that amount of power for a long period of time then you will run into problems.
