Amazing precision engineering
Was a little concerned on what I was going to get. However, the quality of the product and precision engineering of the parts are incredible. Parts are tight to fit together, but not such that you have to alter them. Can be fidley and some bits a little fragile. Once fully constructed, I was amazed that it "Just Worked". For my next kit (yes I'm hooked now), I will look at better ways to wax moving parts.

Well made, but some design flaws, works well with afew modifications
well made, but with a few design flaws. The kit is well presented with well lasered wood sheets. Instructions are good but you need to carefully check the views as to orientation/direction of view. I built the kit but would not run. Carefully checked against build instructions and built to the book. 1. I removed one of the spacers (part number 128) on the forks to prevent the locking pin (part number 129) fowling the escape wheel. 2. I replaced the 'toothpick' bearing for the tourbillon cage with a brass pin as this is an area of high friction. 3. I added 2 washers to the tourbillon cage pivet to raise the assembly slightly to prevent rubbing on the circular gear track at the top. 4. I added 4 rollers (made of brass for ease) to stabalise the tourbillon cage. The two wooden ones (part number 166) were to small to keep the cage vertical. Overall, happy with the kit. With the mods, now runs for about 3.5 hours on a wind.

Caution
I have not finished this..the plywood is very fragile it can break easy then you got to hope you can glue it back..some warnings about spring was not noted how it can bounce back after winding it and it releases'it snaps back violently so becareful with that..when the skywatcher is completed it is pretty good..its the plywood being fragile you got to be careful of and be sure when putting parts together you have correct parts in each step ant put together correctly you make a mistake and attempt to take something apart the plywood could easily break so be careful

Excellent mechanical time-piece
This model is quite fiddly to assemble, but do it carefully and it works really well, and is actually quite accurate. It's obviously not meant as an actual clock, but as a novelty piece, it is excellent and extremely interesting. I had to add some ptfe spray in one or two places to aid the moving parts, but it ran for hours before I actually decided to stop it. Highly recommended!

Not assembled yet
Looks as if the parts are well cut and it should be fun to make up.

Safty first
Read the instructions safty is to be observed. This was very enjoyable to do. The outcome is good. SAFTY FIRST watch the main spring do not release the lock until you put the head on. I almost took the end of my thumb off. When finished the clock was working after a bit fiddle, not much if you follow the instructions. I was patting myself on the back and found the dials were not moving. Had to strip down and found part 21 had broken. I am now waiting for UGEARS to send me a new part. found takes few months to get spare parts but they came. At the minute with the war they take a little longer as I had to send for spares for other puzzles but they still come. You are informed when dispatched and its free great service.

Disappointed

El producto es lo descrito y es lo que se espera. Muy entretenido y relajante de hacer. No esperes una carga de días, solo durará unas pocas horas (4-6h). Pero es para lo que es, entretenimiento y tener una cosa curiosa.

5 Start because the kit is well made, easy and fun to assemble. BUT... The instructions are sparse. if this is your first kit it will be hard. Prior experience is useful. The main problem is with the Tourbillon (spelling?). The instructions are not very specific about how to make the clock movement work. The instructions indicate 10m to 'reseat the tourbillon'. The images are not too clear. After multiple days and a total of few hours or trying, I was only able to run the clock works outside of the main assembly, and only in the upright position. Which is a problem for such a mechanism (the tourbillon is designed to rotate on three axis, to counter the effect of gravity on the timing). When it was running it was very successful, nice movement, nice sound... Only added to the frustration of not being able to run the clockworks inside the assembly. My guess, after many hours, is that the friction of some of the key parts is just too great. it does not take much. the friction of wood on wood is high, and it adds up. My recommendation is to make sure you use the sand paper very extensively, use the wax liberally, and put two of the spacers provided where one is called for. All in the effort to reduce the friction. I also think the 'reseating the tourbillon' mean running it with manual assistance for some time. The movement should reduce the rough spots with use, making the whole smoother. And last, maybe enjoy how it looks and lower your expectations as to the function.

Interesting and challenging project. Great fun and educational at the same time.

It's a really amazing model. You just need to lube everything, and it's probably best to use solid silicone wood lube instead of a paraffin stick. Even so, it will only work for a few hours at most. Still, it's amazing that it does. I've built many of their models, and this one is way above the others in terms of mechanical design. Somebody over there really had to know a lot about clock mechanisms. The design itself is really something, not just for a puzzle but in general. As an engineer, I could imagine designing some other models, but I would have no idea where to even start with this one. It's probably not for young kids. Setting it up so it works takes a lot of time itself. I'd say, this is more of an adult kit. (patience) Now I want a real clock like this, made out of metal...
