Works Great, Tastes Terrible,
My son has sucked his thumb since he was 4 months old when he is tired, upset, or bored. He is now 2.5, and the dentist suggested we get him to stop before 3 years old. I did a little research and decided to purchase this. By day 3 he was no longer sucking his thumb. I stopped applying it after 5 days. It has been 3 weeks and he’s still going strong. It does taste awful. I tried it so I would know what he’d be dealing with and quickly decided that water wouldn’t be enough. I kept an applesauce pouch on hand and when he would forget and suck his thumb, I would give him a bit of apple sauce and remind him that he can’t suck his thumb because it’s nasty.I had been avoiding this transition because I thought it would be such a long and painful one, but this product made it incredibly quick and simple.

Long-lasting
I’m surprised how well this product works. I apply the solution to my nails in the morning after I take a shower. It dries almost instantly and it lasts all day. You can’t see any residue on the nails. It doesn’t feel sticky. The taste is really awful. It’s a bitter taste that makes you immediately mindful your nail is in your mouth. I’ve tried other similar products in the past and it doesn’t last or it looks gross. I just started using this so I can’t say it fixes nail biting completely, but the product is great.

Effective, but not long-lasting
Overall, this is a good product, but having used more traditional nail-polish-type deterrants in the past, I found this to be less effective. I'm giving it four stars due to the application being very convenient and different, but the result was that I ended up biting my nails again more often, as I will explain.I am a lifelong heavy nail biter, and despite using deterrants for 2 years and trying very hard to curb the habit, it's still a challenge. For the last 2 years I used Mavala stop nail polish, which has an intensely bitter taste and is basically a clear bottle of nail polish with bitter chemical added. As long as I keep this nail polish on, I can't bite my nails. Although the polish is water resistant, it wears off in about 2-3 days and by the end of the second day, I may find myself putting my fingers in my mouth some and attempting to bite my nails despite remnants of the bitter polish still being there. This is where these deterrants all hit a snag for me. If I'm not diligent about keeping it on my nails, I go back to biting.Which brings me to the Nail Quail. I bought it to try something different. This product has a similar strong bitter taste, and the applicator is so much more convenient than the nail polish bottle. Initially I was extremely happy with the product because of how much more quickly I could apply it to my nails, and it dries fast too as it is water-based. However, also because it is water-based, I found that within a single day it has already washed almost completely off of my hands (I wash my hands regularly throughout the day, especially when I'm working). To use this effectively, I need to reapply it multiple times each day, instead of ~3 times each week. That doesn't mean it's totally ineffective, but for my case it isn't perfect either. The shape of the product is like a marker, and I think it's meant to be slipped into a pocket or purse to carry around and reapply when out and about. I haven't done this, but I suppose I'll need to start. If I could get a formula of this that was more water resistant with the same applicator tip, I think it would be just about perfect.

This works!!
This stuff works!! Tried several products for my two year olds thumb sucking habit and nothing was working and the other products made him throw up and never lasted long enough on his thumb to make a difference. This one you truly only have to apply 2 to 3 times a day and my child has only had a few slip ups of sucking his thumb when it does wear off but he stops quickly now!

Effective but transfers to everything, wouldn’t recommend
The pen itself is good quality, works well. The product goes on nicely & it’s easy to use. This is for my 10yo daughter, I bought this bc the one we usually used was out of stock. The major con & a reason I will be returning - it gets EVERYWHERE & ON EVERYTHING. I don’t even know how. Even once it dries it transfers to anything you touch, food, drinks, it then gets in your mouth, on your lips, etc etc. If we hadn’t already used a really good nail biting polish (doesn’t transfer at all) I maybe wouldn’t be returning this & assume this is just how it is. But it’s not, there are actual clear nail polishes for nail biting that don’t do this at all. For this reason, I would not recommend.

Works well, don’t eat handheld foods with it on
I used this once and I’m still afraid to put my fingers in my mouth. Anxious nibbling on the nail/cuticles was annoying my life, this has made my second guess putting my fingers to my lips. Do not eat anything hand held with this on. It also doesn’t wash off very well, so again, big deterrent.

Effective Bittering Agent
I've been a nail biter for my entire life. My fingers would hurt all of the time because I couldn't stop going after every little thing. So after a third of a lifetime of pain, I finally wanted to really truly stop. Combine this product with CBT therapy and motivation, I now have pain free fingers and long nails. It's a glorious feeling. The bittering agent in this product is quite potent, and a great reminder to stop me in my tracks. I'm not sure about the moisturizing aspect being amazing, I still feel like my fingers are a bit dry, but they're better than without. Also, I do have to reapply regularly, as it comes off kind of easily. Which isn't so bad, as when I'm cooking I taste what I'm making with my fingers sometimes and don't want to have the bitterant affecting my palette. Compare that to a bitterant nail polish. But it's in a great compact package that I don't mind having as a part of my EDC.

Transfers onto other stuff
I’ve been using this for about 3 days… I believe it works super well, The only issue is even after the product dries on my nails, I will still taste it in food, or drinks, it ends up everywhere and I don’t even know how. But, it is NASTY and it will stop you from biting your nails. I do recommend!
