Garant APSS22U 62" Alpine Sleigh Shovel

The snow shovel is a scoop and it works very well. So well in fact that I can clean my driveway in about the same time as with my walk behind snowblower depending on the amount of snow. It is light weight and slides easily while moving a lot of snow. It seems to be sturdy built and has a ridge on the back for your foot if it bogs down. The handle is such that you can bear down on it when approaching a snowbank and have it ride right up it to deposit the snow. Works far better than the wooden one of old.

The shovel made the job of moving the snow very easy with little stress on the body.

This is an effort saving shovel, similar to the principle of sled on the snow.

Easy on the back. We had 18inches of snow in our drive the day after the shovel was delivered. We were even able to clear an area in our back yard for our small dog to use.

Bought this shovel 2-8-14 and today is 2-6-15. Have enjoyed using it as you can move a mountain of snow in no time without having to lift it at all. However, after only one year and not that many snows, the metal lip has disappeared into the snow somewhere, maybe I'll find it when it melts, and the underside of the plastic shovel part is almost worn through. I only use this shovel to clear my drive and side walks. Yes, there is a sticker on the shovel proclaiming it is for use on snow and ice only and may be damaged by using it on concrete or asphalt, but, is it only for use on frozen lakes? I don't remember anything in their sales pitch that it cannot be used on drives and walks. Due to this, I would not recommend it to anyone other than ice fishermen. It is going to wear out quickly and for the price of it, I expected it to last several years at least. I am very disappointed in this shovel.

Today I cleared 8 inches of snow from my sided walk, driveway and back patio. I am an older guy with some low back issues and this was just the right tool for me. I may apply some car wax to improve the function.

Snow shovel is not what I expected and the handle still will not go down.

This is an amazing back saver. Nothing is more horrid than trying to move a stack of snow on one of those worthless flat snow shovels while trying to balance the load, keep the shovel from twisting, then having the hurl that heavy mess onto the yard. This shovel eliminates all of the hassle and saves your precious back and everything else attached. Just scoop,drag,tip. All done.

I’m a small person 5’2” and weigh under 100 lbs so shovelling has always been a pain (I dream of a heated driveway..... some day maybe haha). I could get a snow blower but they’re so bulky and expensive and loud, but mainly expensive. I did try an electric snow shovel but it was sooo heavy and hard to maneuver it was honestly worse than shovelling; plus it didn’t get rid of that horrible one sided bending that hurts your back and arms after. This shovel was great; so much more ergonomic since as you’re pushing it your body is symmetrical and you don’t need to lift. Just pile it up and dump (watch some YouTube videos). I will never be one of those people who says that any piece of equipment makes snow cleaning less of a pain; because snow clearing is one of my least favourite things to do no matter what; but I am very pleased with this shovel! Worth the price.

Headed in to the 3rd Winter with this scoop. Big difference from the old steel scoops i used as a kid, this one is lightweight, but seems to be strong enough to last. Faster than a shovel.

I previously left a 1 star review because it was hard to get the scoop up a small bank. I thought it was horribly designed, but the problem was between the snow the scoop (me). I had the handle on backwards. Here is my new review: The scoop itself is of high quality plastic. It's not flimsy or cheaply made. The bucket is small compared to my old one, so review the specs to see if you want something bigger. Overall works great and meets my expectations.
