Q: Could I clip this under my soffit?

I believe they fit under roof shingles

Q: Would these work with any light not just the C9?

These are designed for the C9 size lights. I used them with 12 mm pixel lights that I had installed in pixel strips for the roof of my house. I had to cut the top of the holder so I could place the pixel strip in and ensure that the strip of lights remained in a straight line. Thus I used them in a nonstandard manner. If you are using a string of lights, you could pull the string through the holder opening and they would help keep the string lined up. However, it would work better if the lights are running from roof peak to the gutter rather than parallel to the gutter. Trying to stick a smaller dimension light directly in the holder would likely not work so well as they would tend to pull out or the holder.

Q: Do you have to unscrew the light bulb to get the lights mounted in the clips?

Instead of unscrewing the lights I used scissors to cut the top of the clip and slipped the light into the clip without any problem. With LED lights which have a thin base, the light doesn’t snap into the bracket - instead it rests on the bracket. The lights do not form a uniform line; they are a little uneven but that works for us.
