SVBONY Telescope Eyepiece 40mm, 1.25" Plossl Telescope Lens, 40° Wide FOV

The SVBONY 40mm Plössl eyepiece is a fantastic addition to any telescope setup, especially if you enjoy wide-field viewing. It delivers a bright, clear image with a noticeably larger field of view, making it perfect for scanning the night sky, star clusters, and larger deep-sky objects. The fully multi-coated optics really make a difference—images appear sharp with good contrast, and light transmission is impressive for an eyepiece in this price range. It performs especially well under darker skies where you can take full advantage of the wide view. Build quality is solid, with a nice all-metal construction that feels durable and well-made. The eyepiece has a good weight to it without being too heavy, and it fits securely in a standard 1.25” focuser. Eye relief is comfortable, which makes longer observing sessions much more enjoyable, even for beginners. It’s also a great choice if you wear glasses. Impressive quality as to materials and build. Solid metal and multi-coated glass. Blackened internally to reduce stray light reflections. I have yet to view through it in the field, but am very confident that I will be very pleased, based on a thorough review by my highly trusted and very reliable YouTube reviewer, Jason of Small Optics. I purchased a second one for my neighbors, who are giving their young daughters a Celestron beginners' refractor telescope for Christmas 2023. A 40mm eyepiece is a great tool to be used with the stock eyepieces of any beginner scope or with more advanced scopes, as it provides a wider view of the sky. That wider view enables one to be well-oriented as to where to look and move the scope for bringing desired viewing targets into the center of the telescope's view. Then, one can simply lock the scope to that position, then replace the 40mm eyepiece with a 25mm, 10mm, etc. for greater magnification of the desired target, loosen locks of telescope, and off to viewing the target close up with the more powerful stock eyepiece. Alternatively, the 40mm can help provide beautiful sweeping vistas for those who enjoy simply scanning the night sky full of many more beautiful stars, planets, and clusters, etc. than the naked human eye can ever detect.

Good product.

I didn't pay very much for this eyepiece, so I was really surprised to see how good it was for the money. I bought it primarily for stargazing. I wanted to bring the power on my 70mm Celestron spotting scope down to 10X (the longest focal length stock eyepiece it came with was 20mm, or 20X). This eyepiece produces a clear, sharp edge-to-edge image of stars, with no signs of optical aberrations. I tested it during the day for terrestrial viewing and found it to produce a sharp image as well. I'm also really pleased with the wide field of view. Good eyepiece!

I'm fairly new to astronomy, so I used to think that magnification was the main point of using a telescope. As I've explored other eyepieces (like this one) I realize that's absolutely wrong. Sure, it may be one approach but I find the lower magnification zoom results in a much brighter, crisper viewing and seems to cut through light pollution - at least a little bit. I'm very happy with this eyepiece and it's become my favorite so far, because even with my questionably bright backyard (due to general light pollution and the giant street lamp right next door) I can still see amazing things with this attachment. The imagery is really stunning! I'm using a 200mm celestron. One downside to this eyepiece is that it's quite huge. My phone mount for example doesn't fit and you can sometimes see the corners of the eyepiece itself because of its size. That being said, it's still my favorite!

Good product but not much useful in 1.25 inch barrel...because it can't show wider field then 32 mm due to limit of it's barrel

Hi I bought 2 for my binoculars wasn't quite confident for the price.but better than some of my expensive eyepieces
