The chest protector works just fine. The issue really has nothing to do with this particular chest guard.If you go to a tournament and your competitor does not have the "turtle shell" style chest guard but is wearing the "foam" style then you will most likely lose unless you completely dominate the match.The turtle shells are loud! The foam is quiet. Every time your chest guard is lightly touched it will make a sound and usually results in the corner ref making a point. Are you picking up what I am dropping? It us to your advantage to wear the foam style.

Used it for a competition. It was supposed to get here in 2 days but it took 4. I wasnt very happy with that but its a good product.

good protection but the lower part that reaches towards the groin restricts you from doing high kicks so buy a size down to compensate, the strings on the back will easily reach, trust.

The best thing about this Hogue is the last loop on the back is folded over and sewed for more durability.

size large perfectly fit teenager 5'11 & 155lbs. great protection but not overly bulky. needed somebody to put on for him, but was not complicated. fit around back enough to protect kidneys.

I bought for my 9 year old son and it is as good as the one I saw at a sporting store for half the price.
