Amazing watch....beautiful....beautifully finished ...42.5 mm width wears far smaller than i expected...wonderful that any size wrist can wear this...the turtle or pillow case and the very short lug to lug allows for an extremely comfortable watch...thank you so much!

As the title says the watch is great but the reflectivity of the crystal is ridiculous. At this price point this needs way stronger AR coating. Sold the watch shortly afterwards as its basically too frustrating

I bought this watch as a replacement for the Citizen Garrison that was my field watch that recently bought the farm. I didn't want to spend much more than $300 because I am planning on beating the hell out of the watch. But, I still want something that is going to look good, be accurate, water resistant to at least 100m, have an integrated compass, and is durable. I saw this watch and decided to give it a try. I have a Seiko Alpinist that is probably my favorite watch. But it's too well polished and has a leather strap that make it poorly suited to the rigors that I am likely to put this watch through. But, I am familiar with the reliability that Seiko automatic movements offer, and the 4R35 that is housed in this Tortoise is a workhorse (the dive watches of this shape are referred to as turtles. This is a land use watch, hence the name "tortoise"). This watch has an acceptable accuracy of only being about 3 seconds fast per day (I compare it to the atomic clock). Mind you, this is a mechanical watch. If higher accuracy is your expectation, and look for watch with a quartz movement. The strap is not terribly comfortable. But, as any vet or boy scout can tell you, it's probably like any new pair of hiking/combat boots. It may cause blisters and be uncomfortable at first, then become more comfortable with wear. I will give it two weeks. If the strap has not broken in, I will replace it with an aftermarket strap. But, what really sold me on the watch is the comfort of the case. The turtle watches are contoured on the back and feature an offset crown that allow for a full range of motion of the wrist and you will not have a crown that digs into your hand. I was not considering that when I initially purchases this watch. But once it was on my wrist, it was immediately noticeable. That degree of comfort in conjunction with its accuracy and good looks has made this my daily driver, and at about $300, this watch is a steal. I might get one for my dad for Christmas.
