Severin Germany Special Bagless Vacuum Cleaner, Corded (Ocean Blue)

Quality German engineering, great suction, and very quiet! Yes the unit does indicate that it is made in China but so are most other items that we purchase. Build quality of the entire unit is excellent. The vacuum comes with a total of SIX attachments. The two that we have used the most are the jet drive beater brush and the bigger floor attachment. Most of our floor surfaces are either wood or tile but we do have a large wool carpet in our living area. The jet drive power brush is not motor driven but is instead operated by the vacuums suction flow. Despite the lack of a motor this little 8 inch jet drive brush attachment does a wonderful job. In fact the jet drive head actually does a much better job than our old large motor driven beater brush attachment on our old eureka canister vacuum. We also use the jet drive attachment on our pesky entry rugs that often get embedded with lint and other hard to remove material. The jet drive brush does a stellar job at dislodging these items! The adjustable bigger floor attachment is perfect for hard surfaces and can be adjusted to use on carpets as well. Both attachments glide along the floor surfaces without much resistance or drag. The cord is plenty long enough (25 feet) and the unit is easy to maneuver around the house. The unit is light enough that I can grab it up and head down our basement stairs and stairs in our entry way - this makes vacuuming hard to get to stairs and treads very manageable. One other great feature is the extendable metal wand ... even when the wand is extended to its fullest length it is sturdy. Very happy with this vacuum and would recommend it to anyone that wants a well crafted practical machine that has impressive cleaning power!

Best vacuum ever! I have to say we are surprised with the quality, durability and suction of the severin. We actually received the pet version and were super excited to try it out since we have such long haired, shedding cats. The box includes multiple attachments and works great on our hardwood. I first noticed how small the actual vacuum is. I was not expecting so much power from what I thought was a dinky little canister. First use, I was floored! We have primarily hardwood but my bf used the vacuum on our low pile carpet on our stairs and the high pile rug. It's personal preference which attachment you use, but we have experimented with a few and found the hard floor attachment and the power head work great. After we vacuum, we cannot believe how much gunk is in the canister! The vacuum is great for cat hair but people have complained about the hair getting stuck in the bristles. Yes that does happen especially on rugs but to be fair, I'd rather use the bristles for a deeper clean. So what if I have to pull the hair our a few times while vaccuming. Another huge bonus is that this vacuum is SO QUIET! I would say it's even quieter than a hair dryer... My bf can vacuum the house after I work a night shift and he wont wake me up even if he's vacuuming right outside the bedroom door. Don't waste your $ on a Dyson. Seriously, buy this vacuum, this is a much better bang for your buck! You will not be disappointed.

I waited a few months to write a review to get a good sense of the pros and cons of this vacuum cleaner from several uses, and I think I am ready now.This vacuum replaces a Miele that we bought two years ago which in turn replaced a Dyson after 3 years of service which replaced a definitely cheaper model. That kind of sets the context.This Severin model has incredible suction - the best of any vacuum cleaner I've ever had. It has a lot of different attachments that are very handy and usable, but overall I feel that this vacuum works best on hardwood, tile, or very low pile throw rugs such as Persian rugs or maybe even Berber. I think that would make sense since it seems to work the best on floor types that you would most likely find in European homes. High-pile carpets or shaggy rugs are a little difficult (but not impossible). You do need to set the suction lower than you may think at first when you vacuum area rugs.On that note, the one attachment that could be improved upon is in fact the rug cleaner attachment---the brush is not powered electrically but rather by vacuum suction and/or movement by moving it across the rugs. It suctions for sure, you get a bit of cardio and arm workout doing so.The controls are easy to use, and are not placed in any locations where, for example, the power cord might accidentally bang against a button and change the setting (issue with the last vacuum cleaner...so I was looking out for this in design for its replacement).I feel that the power cord could be a little longer, but I've adapted my housecleaning to just unplug and plug the vacuum cleaner in more often in specific rooms (the cord in this cleaner is not as long as my last vacuum cleaner so it does not handle as many rooms without being unplugged and plugged in again).There is a lot of plastic with this vacuum cleaner but I do not think it feels cheap. In fact, it feels no less 'cheap' than vacuum cleaners that are considerably more expensive (Miele, Dyson). I would like to find a vacuum cleaner that is more metal and more durable in feel---they are not made that way anymore!I appreciate that this vacuum was designed for 'self service' with clear instructions and accessibility to clean the vacuum chamber and filters for continued long-term use.The vacuum cleaner is more quiet than most models but maybe not quite as quiet as a Miele (but it's at a fraction of the cost).I like that the accessories are a bit small-sized so I can more easily vacuum under furniture compared to other models we've used.So this vacuum, to me, represents a pretty superior performance at its price point.By the way---the reason we replaced previous models is that despite their higher prices, in the end they became not usable because of some cheap part being easily broken that prevented the vacuum cleaner from being used without a trip to a vacuum repair shop. Whether or not that is in warranty, it's poor design. I am hoping not to see that with this Severin.

Any negative reviews are because people are not reading this vacuums capabilities and adjustments. Eg. Suction adjustments and proper use of accessories. I absolutely love this vacuum. Had a Dyson previously and hands down prefer this one. its light weight, not to large for a bagless vacuum. I love that the wand is light weight aluminum and not plastic. Also, the price point compared to the Dyson is half the cost. I'm very pleased and highly recommend it. I do have a dog and picks up the hair. I'm also have some back issues and I find this works well within my limitations.

Very happy with this vacuum. Light weight but powerful. Especially good on hardwood floors but still not bad on rugs and upholstery. Great for house with pet hair. Comes with a Lot of accessories and a bag to hold them. Especially Love that it’s a bagless vacuum and easy and quick to empty and that it’s light to carry. A Great buy

Awesome suction power, no problem handling the biggest of messes, etc. Dog hair pickup is no problem on carpet or area rugs. My only issue, I wish the cord was a tad longer.
