Q: Are these warm enough when working outside

Ya their warm enough but I don't recommend them for jeans. These are real similar to what the Air Force pilots wear under their flight suits, great for that application (a smooth satin like material) but not for jeans. They rub against the Jean and lint forms, thats normal. But the material these are made of won't let go of that lint and after weaking them for a couple days you got blue hairball clumps stucjk to the long Johns, and nothing takes it off except picking it off manually, lint brush didn't work or duct tape. They sit in the drawer now.

Q: It says in the description "These heavyweight cotton men's...". Are these really heavyweight?

I would not classify these as heavyweight in my opinion. they are warm and comfortable, but, they are not bulky.
