Hands-On Chemistry Activities with Real-Life Applications: Easy-to-Use Labs and Demonstrations for Grades 8-12

At first opening this to a random page, I was hooked. It is very easy to read, unlike many other books like this. As a chemistry teacher, I love this book. The labs are interesting, and the most important part is how it talks about relevancy. The book makes a lot of great connections to real world examples with chemistry. I love all of the fun facts, like the meaning behind the names of the elements. I haven't tried the labs yet. I will be rewriting my lessons, but they seem interesting. I love the explanation behind the labs. The biggest question I get is, "why am I doing this?" or "how is this relevant?". This book provides a lot of answers to those questions. It is not just doing a lab for fun while learning nothing, but it is doing a lab for fun and learning the relevancy of it. Many of the labs are not long, but they can be nice short labs that make a big point.

This book is absolutely packed with ideas, applications, easy demos, and labs. Each concept is introduced or enriched with everyday applications to show students chemistry in action in the world around them. I can't wait for the school year to start so I can inject new life into my class discussions and labs. Just what I needed. Thanks to the authors!

I enjoy the writing style but where are the answers to the questions? I can't find them anywhere to check if my answers are correct.

Great book! As a homeschool family, we are enjoying the labs in this book. They truly do equate to everyday life and use material that are readily available. A great find for any highschool student!

Great book, but it was too high-level for my 14 year old who is into chemistry.

My wife is a chemistry teacher and was in need of some new resources for activities. This book is the stuff, soon as she began flipping through it she said it was worth every penny and then some. Great resource.

This book provides over 300 investigations, demonstrations, labs and activities that use everyday examples to make chemistry interesting and easy to understand. It is applicable to grades 8-12 and provides basic chemistry instruction for the student.

Not as useful as I was hoping.

Excellent book. It brings relevance to chemistry and every day examples behind the experiments. Great for planning GCSE and A Level Chemistry.
