A wonderful classic, with imaginative text and beautiful art. A wonderful book for beginning animal recognition, language development, and anticipatory responses from children.

Sweet story, a favorite to read to our baby

Our son was born in 1987, and one of the first books we received for him was this one. It was in a cardboard/ hardcover edition, and lasted all through his childhood. This offering is a soft-bound edition that we recently ordered for a friend’s children.Same great kid’s book, now in an easily digestible/CHEWABLE edition!

This book was one of my favorites when I was a kid and now I get to read it to my own baby!

Turns out that just because my momma sounds like a lama that she is indeed not a lama.

Maybe favorite book! The rhythm and rhyme work well when read aloud, which cannot be said of so many other rhyming books. The illustrations are sweet and appropriate for each species, which cannot be said of many other books depicting exotics species. Children want to hear it over and over, but adults don't mind because it is pleasant to read. As a read aloud, it is appropriate for any age level, even keeping a class of preschoolers entranced time after time.

I got this book for my daughter when she was about two years old. She is now 25 and I can still "read" this book with my eyes closed. It has the best rhyming rhythm to it and it is really fun to read it with kids because they can easily participate-Me reading - "Is your mama a lama I asked my friend Dave? No she is not is the answer Dave gave. She hangs by her feet and she lives in a cave. I do not believe that's how llamas behave. Oh I said you are right about that. I think that your mama sounds more likeDaughter reading - "a bat!!"I just got this book for a coworker as part of her baby shower gift. Rather than cards, the attendees gave her books for the new baby. She loved it!

I have fond memories of this book from my childhood. I was so happy to find it!

I read this to my five month old daughter anytime of the day and she absolutely loves it! My 10 year old son loves reading it too, and it’s almost memorised for those off the cuff moments needing a smile. Well paced and catchy, although the illustrations could do with a little updating. Similar to Monkey Puzzle. Just amazing ✨

Bought it cause muy parents used to read it to me before bed 22 years ago and now I'll read it to my daughter :)

It is a good book for children. The sing song tone to the title has a ring to it
