The size of the pieces and accompanying cardboard board are perfect and they are very well made. If you are interested on the more expensive wood chess set this manufacturer sells, this one will give you an idea of the shape and size of what the ones used for World Chess Championship tournaments look like.Obviously, these are still plastic and not as heavy as wooden pieces, but they handle well and seem they will last a long time. I also have a "Best Chess Set Ever" and can report those are pieces are heavier than this set, in case that is important for you.If you want it for travelling, say a camping trip, I think it should be fine if going by car. Otherwise, it you are travelling by plane, the box may be too big if you have only a carry-on bag.I think most people will enjoy playing with this set.

Overall, it's a good solid set. The pieces feel pretty good for plastic and have a decent weight to them. The outside container is nice and I like the algebraic notation on the board. For improvement:-The pieces come in cheap plastic bags. They should come in fabric drawstring bags.-The board started to fall apart after a year so I had to tape it together. They could have made that more sturdy

This is a plastic version of the official set used in WC and other top level FIDE events. The design is very nice and useable in either tournaments, club or home, Staunton design with a different crown on the King and very nice design Knightsthe only thing that should have been done better is the board, cardboard instead of at least vinyl/silicone. Overall a nice set that will last for many years (get a good mousepad board).

Beautifully designed set! Initially, the card board chessboard makes the pieces a bit hard to move by pushing them (due to the friction from the paper). However, after applying a thin layer of Renaissance wax, the board become very slippery as regular chessboards. The only cons is that there are no extra queens, this sometimes makes analyzing games hard to get used to. No one sells spared queens for this set, unless you buy two sets just to get extra queens! Regarding the weight, I think all pieces are only singly weighted (I actually tested with a magnet), but I have no problem with the weight. Last, 2”-squared boards will be much better suited for this set.

This is a great set for travel or home use. I have not had an issue with the weight of the pieces either, tbh. If you are looking for a quality, budget chess set, this is the one

The cardboard board is JANKY and should be replaced with a silicone or rubber mousepad type board. It has since wore down enough to have ripped in half after normal use.Also the pieces are too light to be considerred "weighted". Granted, they are not completely hollow plastic....but mostly.The set still functions well for a little while, but for the price, I could have bought a standard tournament set that would have lasted longer. This set feels borderline disposable.I have since bought the Bobby Fischer Ultimate Chess Pieces and a rubber mat and am twice as satisfied and confident (based on the feel of the pieces and board) that they will last longer.

I actually really enjoy this set. I personally think the weight of pieces are good, not perfect but really good. The board is slick looking and the over sized pieces are a joy.

Just wanted a set for my home. Happy with this.
