in-Motion Pro Underarm Crutches for Adults, Spring Assist, Foldable

I have been using these crutches for almost 10 years now and love them. My armpits are never sore like with standard crutches. My wrists haven't had any trouble, which i attribute to the ergonomic handles and shock absorbing legs. For reference, I am a large woman in my 50s and a life-long partial paraplegic. I hang things off the handles on my "good" side all the time (sometimes way too many bags of groceries just to avoid needing the second trip). The hook top style let's me hang then on the wall, lean against the wall without them sliding away, and I can usually hang them under from a table top so as to not trip people in a restaurant (this requires some creativity to figure out. I'll try to remember to come back and add a photo. Maintenance - I usually glue in the rubber stoppers at the top. I use these as a grabber while on the go, and occasionally the stopper will catch on something while I am misusing them in this way and get lost. I "rotate the tires" every month or two if a squeak starts to appear, just doing a 180 on the same post or swapping the posts between the left and right side. In my imagination i think this helps get more life out of them, but eventually a more permanent squeak will develop after about a year, which I think is awesome since I use them everyday all day. I will also spin the rubber tips at the bottom if they start to wear unevenly. I upgrade to add tornado tips if I'm traveling to a snowy area. I did briefly have a problem several years ago with the quality of the crutch tips being too plasticky and not gripping well, but that material problem seems to have gone away. The tips that come with these crutches actually work very well and last at least 2-3months. I also had a bad set of lower legs that started squeaking almost within days out of the box. MM send me replacement legs and those worked great. I vaguely sense that they have improved the design of the shock absorbing legs. They seem to last much longer in recent years than my first pairs. They have also improved the construction of the handle integration at some.point so the hand grips don't slowly rotate around and dont require adjustment anymore. The foldability feature is very helpful for travel on airplanes. More times than not, the flight crew will store them unfolded in the overhead bin after luggage is put up there. They also stor unfolded in the coat closet on the plane. I only end up folding them if needed to get them into the bins. I don't love the push button release for folding them, and there's a little stopper bushing that sometimes comes out making it tricky sometimes to unfold it back after stowing. This is why I don't folding them very often unless I really need to do it. The bushings on the posts and hand grips wear over time and give the impression that things are getting loose, but they still just fine. I treat myself to a new pair about once a year, mostly so they are less clanky or squeaky than the worn out ones. I used to get the colored version. I have some old blue ones and one set of red. I'm pretty happy with the charcoal at this point in my life for professionalism. I wouldn't hesitate to paint them or put stickers on them if you need to express yourself. I agree that they are heavier than other crutches, but this doesn't bother me. My arms are very strong (i.e. I use crutches full time and long term.) Overall, I love these. They have been great for my quality of life.

I broke my fibula on April 1… I’m aware of the irony, and quickly realized that standard crutches are not all created equal. After trying a basic pair, I decided to purchase the in-Motion Pro Crutches along with the matching crutch pads, and I’m really glad I did. The first thing I noticed was the weight. These are lightweight enough that I don’t feel like I’m dragging them around, but they still feel sturdy and supportive when I’m using them. They don’t have that flimsy feel that some cheaper crutches do. The foldable design is also a huge plus. Being able to fold them down makes them much easier to put in the car, store next to a chair, or take along when I’m going somewhere. That added versatility has made a real difference during recovery. The crutches arrived in excellent condition and were packaged well. Everything adjusted smoothly, and the locking mechanisms felt secure once set to my height. I also appreciate the ergonomic handles. Traditional crutch grips can be rough on the hands and wrists, especially when you’re using them all day. These handles feel more natural and supportive. Adding the crutch pads made them even more comfortable, especially under the arms and during longer periods of use. As far as performance, the spring assist feature is helpful. It gives the crutches a smoother feel when moving and seems to reduce some of the jarring impact compared to basic crutches. I still have to be careful, of course, but these feel stable and easier to manage on different surfaces around the house and while getting in and out of the car. They are also very easy to use. Adjusting the height was straightforward, folding and unfolding them doesn’t take much effort, and the overall design feels practical for daily use. I’ve used them around the house, for appointments, and while running short errands, and they’ve held up well. Overall, I’m very happy with this purchase. Recovering from a broken fibula is frustrating enough, and having crutches that are comfortable, lightweight, foldable, and reliable has made the process a little easier. I would definitely recommend these to anyone who needs crutches and wants something more comfortable and portable than the standard hospital-style pair.

I had a hip surgery that requires 2 months of crutches for each hip. I am a very active person and I have two young children- Lots of time spent on these. The handles are very sturdy, I have enormous hands and I weigh 200 pounds. However, I had to modify them by cutting most of the contoured ridge off with a razor blade and then I used high quality cycling bar tape to wrap each handle. I like to tinker and have a cycling addiction. Now for the only real gripe with these- the spring system is awful. Complete gimmick. I have disassembled them, cleaned, lubricated with every type I could find(white lithium is the only one that semi works), and they still get gummed up. One side started squeaking and no matter what I did, it still squeaked. Awful product. The remedy- go to their company website and order the rigid bases;$23 then absurd shipping. Or buy the much cheaper rigid crutches they offer on Amazon. Those cap at 6 feet tall so I had to go with these taller ones with springy bases. Best crutches I’ve found. They still aren’t perfect but I got them to work well.

SURE these are not the lightest set of crutches I've ever owned (I use them to get from driver seat to my rear tailgate to access my walker while out and about), but .. and this is important .. I am standing up a LOT straighter, have far more comfort and ease in relearning how to walk with a more normal gait, and get the right amount of bounce/compression (and stability) in every step! They fit well in my SUV .. I lift them into the passenger seat area for storage while I drive (or I can easily slip them through over the center armrest - straight to the cargo bay since I use that for my walker/etc. These things are STURDY! I can't believe how sturdy they are -- and a real bonus here -- I do travel at times, so to be able to "Fold" (the instructions tell you how easy that is to do) so they fit in Aircraft tiny spaces) makes it even more of a good thing overall. I like the way the hand areas are also ergonomic -- never felt so comfortable using crutches! (yes, there ACTUALLY is a design thought in this -- you get a right hand crutch and left hand crutch in the set -- no mistaking which is which when you place your hands on the pieces. It is truth that the curve part goes behind your body and the straight goes in front of your body. (again, it's explained well in the handbook). It is easy enough to adjust (TIGHT FIT Though!). Which is a good thing for STABILITY and Reliability of these crutches. So far, so good in terms of use by myself in my daily life. I use them also (I'm very CAREFUL and wear pool/water shoes) so I can get to the pool to do my Aqua Therapy Exercises and Sessions) and I've not found difficulty when I am that careful overall. (I just avoid overly wet areas). Just be aware these ARE heavier than the standard lightweight regular crutches though. For myself, I don't see that as a problem given I expect these to last longer and are so far, more comfortable to use than any ones I have used before.

Product was delivered and works as advertised. The parts appear to be well-made, they fit together fine and I don't expect any problems. I'm 6' and the underarm just reached at the lowest setting of 5'10". I like having shorter crutches and considered returning them just because there's no room to adjust them. If you are 5'10 then I would worry that these might be too tall. They are heavier than standard crutches. I knew that going in but I think that's due to the thicker metal rather than going with a lighter alloy. I don't know why the hook shape is useful - it could be a straight pole with a t-top and that would reduce the weight; I hope they didn't decide on a curve just for style. I don't use the cuff-type crutches because the underarm part is useful if I'm carrying something where I can use my hip to swing the crutch forward. I'm an amputee and as I get older I can't wear my prosthesis for extended periods - I'm on crutches every day all day. I walk about a mile to and from work on mostly paved surfaces so the tips wear out after a few months (my worn tips go on my outdoor crutches). I didn't like that these tips aren't a 7/8 size because I get my tips at the second-hand stores from crutches that people only used during an injury. These tips are 0.7" which I think I can get from a cane. They are nice tips but I don't think they'll last and the replacements they sell are expensive however nice they are. The foam rubber on the underarm is good quality and comfortable. I only rest on the underarm when I'm carrying something and I take the foam off of standard crutches. This foam covering on these isn't so thick that it bothers me. I think the noise issue is something the company needs to address. I thought they might start squeaking after a while but there's a grinding noise right out of the box. I think they just put a really strong spring in there and let it rub along the inside of the pole. I doubt their "patented" system is very unique. I finally tried these since many years ago someone came up to me and said how much they loved the spring loaded crutches. I think these do help - at least there's a different type of stress on my hands and arms. I'll be switching between these and my standard crutches. I took these on a day-long trip to a tourist town with lots of walking and they performed well. The spring cushion is fine going up stairs but more unsteady going down. They tout the angled hand grip as ergonomic and have a picture showing why but I don't think there's been a serious study about it. The angle makex me have to grip them harder because you can't just rest all the weight on your palm - you'd slip off- I know, that's an ergonomic feature not a bug! The custom shaped grips are fine and the plastic is good quality but they are hard plastic so you can't really cushion them. In addition, because they are left and right shaped you can't ignore which crutch goes where like with standard ones. That might be a problem with wear for an amputee who naturally is one-sided. I also can't hold both by the grip in one hand like I do with standard crutches when I'm hopping off the bus, for example. There are pluses and minuses with how the crutches behave when you're trying to set them down as they tend to cross like skis. The hook shape on top is okay but it doesn't fit as well alongside me in the car. The quick release assembly will probably be nice on an airplane but it's not so convenient that I would use it in a car except for a long trip. Okay, this has gone on too long but the fabrication of the handles seems sturdy (probably because they use heavier metal not aluminum). I really wanted to try this type for a long time and finally spent the money. They were at the low end so maybe more expensive ones are better but I'm pretty cheap so these are a decent value. They aren't a miracle but will be a nice change. My wife says they look nicer.

I've had the crutches for about 6 months, and they are a game changer for me. A little about me, I was a corrections officer 16 years ago when I completely dislocated my left knee and caused (so far) irreversible nerve damage in my leg so I have had a foot drop ever since. I was walking for years without assistance but with a slight limp so I didn't trip over my toe. I am a big guy, 6'6" and 430lbs. Within the last few years I started to develop arthritis in my right hip. I started walking with a cane, but that only threw my equilibrium off the other way, so that I developed arthritis in the left knee, the same knee I injured all those years ago. It got so bad I could barely walk last year with just the cane. I found these on Amazon and read all of the reviews, both positive and negative. I decided to give them a try, and boy am I ever glad I did! As a big, tall guy with arthritis, just having these help support me works wonders to relieve the stress on my joints and they have allowed me to walk longer distances and stand for much longer than I have been able to in a very long time. I am a little different where I don't need them to help me recover from a surgery, I need these for every day use as a quality of life item. These are very sturdy crutches, and so well designed they feel amazing without the pains of the standard crutches, which I vividly remember 16 years ago when I had my leg in the immobilizer for those first 10 months after the injury and going through rehab. The springs in the bottom work as fantastic shock absorbers as another layer of comfort on my joints. I just had my first problem with one of the crutches, and the team at Millennial was fantastic to work with and very fast with their response. I am very pleased with the product and the company itself. If you are reading this and debating whether to purchase a pair, I highly recommend them! You will not be disappointed!

The handgrips are nice, but these crutches are otherwise far worse than standard ordinary crutches. This is due to the fact that they essentially have shock absorbers on the bottom (like in a car), meaning a lot of energy is lost as you move. In other words, it takes MORE effort to walk across the room with these vs normal standard crutches. I don't know who decided that crutches were missing shock absorbers. I only weigh 190lbs, so perhaps if you're severely overweight this is something you might appreciate? But then I would imagine someone severely overweight wouldn't want to buy crutches that require more exertion just to move. Terrible value for your money.

These crutches are great. Very easy to use and stay in place under your arm better than old style crutches. Springs in legs help with shock absorption when walking. The handles are at a correct angle for walking. Excellent tips on legs make secure contact with floor and ground when walking. Very stable. If you need under arm crutches for long term use I recommend these. They cost less than carbon fiber but provide the best support I have had when walking. I wish the handles had magnets like their forearm crutches, it would make it easier to store them when not in use for example when at a restaurant or eating at home. Even so they store much more easily than the old style underarm crutches. One really nice feature is the handle can be adjusted to better fit your arm and grip. Highly recommend.
