Will this hold a golf ball?

I don’t have a golf ball to measure but the drawers are a tight 1 1/2” x 1 1/2” and are 1 3/4” deep.

Is there anything on the backside of this to hang it on a wall?

No. Its just smooth. You would have to attach something.

Are the drawers large enough to hold plastic letters? I want to use it to make hold alphabet letters.

Hello, so you ask a great question. The dimensions of the drawers are: 1 1/2" wide 1 1/2" long x 1 1/2" deep. You can store letters in the drawers but they have to be rather small. I hope this is helpful! Good Luck!

If you were to remove all the drawers wood it be an empty box or does it have compartments?

There is compartments for each drawer!
