Paneangeli Vanillina - 2 Envelopes / 12 Servings

Just heard about this Paneangeli Vanillina and had to try it. I love it! You get 2 envelopes with 6 sachet pkts in each. There doesn't appear to be much in the pkt, but it is way more wonderfully scented than any other Vanilla l have ever used, including a good one from Mexico, and it is plenty for whatever you're making. I add it to my dry ingredients. Open up the pkt completely to be sure not to miss a crumb. I made "S" cookies with this yesterday and the whole house still smells like Heaven.

Once I discovered Gefen Vanilla Sugar, I stopped using the individual packets of Dr. Oetker's vanilla sugar. This was a very inexpensive alternative and was absolutely delicious and fragrant. This current COVID-19 situation has increased the price of Gefen sugar by 400 percent - but only if you are able to find it at all. In the past I've used Paneangeli Vanillina, the popular Italian brand of vanillin, which is beautifully scented and can be added to sugar to replicate Gefen or Dr. Oetker's Vanilla Sugar. Why would I do this? Why not a quick trip to the dollar store for a vial of vanilla flavoring? Because I am not a fan of alcohol-based flavorings. I am attempting to create less plastic waste; with no extra chemicals. I was very happy to find Paneangeli Vanillina on Amazon, of all places. It was $9 for two packages 12 servings. This will make 12 x 12 oz. batches, if you refill not quite to the top one Gefen 12-oz. container with sugar and add one packet of Paneangeli Vanillina. If you like a stronger vanilla flavor, try 1 c. regular granulated sugar to 1 packet, and from there keep adding by increments until you find your happy place. Caveat: Just keep in mind that in your recipes you are continuing to use regular white granulated sugar as listed, and replacing one tbsp. of this mixture in place of 1 tsp. of liquid vanilla flavoring. In other words, you are not dumping a cup of your new vanilla mixture in place of sugar. What I do: If I need one cup of sugar, I will use 3/4 c. sugar and then I will add 1/4 c. of the blended sugar/vanilla sugar - just as you would use Dr. Oetker's vanilla sugar in the small packets. This is a recommended seller. It arrived in a protective sealed bag. I'll be back for more.

Hard to find this item in my area - so glad it's available here on amazon. Wonderful flavor and makes the house smell amazing. This item is often called for in authentic Italian recipes. The packets are shelf stable for a very long time so I'm glad I was able to stock up.

I've used this in cakes and biscuits for years and it gives a lovely vanilla aroma without overpowering the recipe. Each sachet is convenient because there's no measuring needed. If you enjoy baking Italian recipes, it's one of those ingredients that's always useful to have on hand.
