Quiet, capable, and RV-ready—perfect for running dual A/Cs with planning
Quiet, capable, and RV-ready—perfect for running dual A/Cs with planning:We’re using the Westinghouse iGen5000DF (Rev02) to power our RV with:• 13,500 BTU rooftop A/C (~1,300W running / ~3,000W surge)• 13,000 BTU rooftop A/C (~1,200W running / ~2,800W surge)• Plus a microwave (~1,100W) and a 6-gallon DSI electric water heater (~1,000W)We don’t use soft start kits, so we stagger the A/C startup (turn one on, wait 2–3 minutes, then turn on the second). With that simple step, this generator handles both units comfortably on gas or propane. We just avoid running the microwave or water heater at the same time the A/Cs are cycling.⸻Pros:• Super quiet (~52 dBA) even under moderate load• Dual fuel = flexibility (gas = 3,900W / propane = 3,500W running)• Remote start works great inside the trailer• RV-ready 30A outlet—no adapters needed• Runs both A/Cs reliably with smart timing• Easy to move: Large, but manageable with built-in wheels and handles. We run it from the bed of our truck (bumper pull setup). I can load/unload it solo, though it’s definitely easier with two people.⸻Cons:• No soft starts = tighter power window—don’t start both A/Cs at once• Lower output on propane (3,500W vs. 3,900W gas)• No built-in fuel gauge or propane readout• Not 100% hands-off—requires a little thought to manage loads⸻Pro Tip:This unit doesn’t show propane level on the display. We solved that by adding an inline propane tank gauge (under $20 at any hardware store). It gives you a clear visual on how much fuel is left and saves the guesswork.⸻✅ Final Thoughts:This generator hits the mark for RVers running dual A/Cs with real-life loads. It’s efficient, quiet, fuel-flexible, and portable enough to use regularly. As long as you manage your appliance timing and keep an eye on propane levels, it’s a workhorse. Not completely plug-and-play—but it’s close

I love this when we are boondocking, which is most the time.
I bought this generator to use with my travel trailer. It was delivered in early April. I got it unboxed and setup with minimal issues, everything that was needed to get it going was right in the box (except the gas). I picked this one up to replace a smaller generator that ended up being underpowered for running the AC on my trailer. This generator has sufficient power to run the AC without any issues. I really like the remote start feature, it comes in very handy. It took two of us to get the generator set onto to rack on the front of the trailer, but that was expected. The generator under its cover is in the attached picture. That is where it rides all summer long.

Good generator, good price.
Why did you pick this product vs others?:Great generator, easy to set up, very quiet. I already had a non-inverter 6500w Ryobi generator for power outage emergencies at home, but that was going to be much too loud to use for our new 16 ft RV trailer. I'll be using this to power my RV trailer when boondocking - sitting in the pick-up bed, but I presume it could go onto a trailer rear-bumper platform if I wasn't already carrying bikes and a spare tire back there. I can usually do without aux power except in the summer with the dogs. If we have to leave them alone the ability to run the a/c when we stop to see a roadside attraction, etc. is critical. Thus this generator is providing much freedom for travel with the dogs (and will certainly add some comfort on hot nights for us humans, too). I did a test run with my 3500 btu RV air conditioner. Mathematically, I thought the iGen 5000 generator would handle it, but I was getting occassional OL trips when the A/C unit started. Thus I'll be putting a soft start device on the A/C.UPDATE: This soft-start worked wonders. A/C runs great now and starts up with no generator overload trips.
