Cute drawings and fun children's story
My family has loved this book for nearly 40 years when our first daughter was born. I just bought two books, one for a baby shower gift requesting books for the new baby, and one for our grandchildren. My husband loved reading this book to our girls and now he is enjoying reading it again to our grandchildren! It is a true classic!

A Children's Story with a Powerful Message for Grownups
This book remains my favorite children's book...maybe even more meaningful than the iconic Velveteen Rabbit. An allegory about a starving lion who chases and eats every animal in the forest--but never seems to get full. He's alone in the world, hungry for things that can't fill him up. One day he's chasing rabbits...and the rabbits invite him to join them for a supper of carrot stew. He accepts the invitation, fully intending to eat the rabbits before the evening is out, but discovers that the carrot stew actually fills him up! All along, it isn't meat he's starving for, but love. In short, the only thing that can fill a hungry soul is relationships and community. What a terrific story. I buy copies for my friends who are chasing after material things that can't fill the empty places inside. The Tawny Scrawny Lion offers a simple, yet profound lesson in the power of unconditional love to heal a broken, hungry heart. Like so many great children's books, the message may be wasted on the young. Children start out knowing these things...and gradually forget.

The Classic!
This was one of my daughter's favorite books when she was a little one. We wore out several copies as she was growing up and I really thought it was out of print. I was so excited to fine it. I got it for her as a stocking stuffer (which of course won't fit in her stocking but that is beside the point). She is going to be so excited!

My son loves to read this with me.
One of my childhood favorites and now my children love it as well. Making memories and engaging with the kids is priceless.

This was a favourite with our children when we lived in the states in the early 1980's, and was irresistible for the grandchildren. 2013 children love it just as much as their parents, smiles all round. It is lovely to get a little book with a really good story to read before bed. Very highly recommended

Great book, my father used to read this to me when I was little.

Weird little story of a lion that turns vegetarian. Would not greatly recommend though the illustrations are good.

Get it now before the body positivity movement cancels them.

My daughter giggled at much of it, but even she, at the wise old age of 6, had trouble swallowing that a carnivore ike a lion can simply deny its nature and opt for carrot stew, much less thrive from doing so. But the story was cute and served as a nice parable for the benefits of being neighborly.
