What are the 4 black spaces between the larger drawers for? Seems like they aree only cosmetic and 4 of them could have been made deeper.

Patti - thanks for your question. You should be fine, the drawers might get a little "soft" as they are thin, but the end reach of this polypropylene material is aprox 250 degrees.
