When this clock first arrived I was thinking of returning it. The look can be described as shabby chic but up close the filigree can be a bit too much and it is sort of cheap looking up close. However, when I hung it up the rose filigree became unnoticeable and the face of the clock was what stood out more. It looked like an antique clock instead. I am buying this size clock to put high up on a wall in a large room and no-one will be up close scrutinizing it so I am most concerned with how it looks from a distance. It is very pretty. The face is very easy to read even from far away. Many other clocks I had considered did not have such a readable face. The hour that hand is wider and obviously shorter coupled with the white face that has no writing on it are why it is so readable. It is very lightweight (plastic) but I consider that a plus because it will be so easy to pull down to change the battery. It is as advertised extremely quiet. You can hear literally no ticking at all. All in all I am quite pleased with this clock. It looks like a very pretty antique clock but with modern day amenities.
