Tupperware Cheese Keeper

It works as well as the original, where you just lifted the lid off, cut your slices and snapped the lid back on. The Tupperware model is actually a better mousetrap, where the cheese block slides in and out of the plastic box, and you need only expose enough cheese to cut a slice, close the tray and put on the lid. This Tupperware model holds the big blocks of Velveeta with no problem. It is ONLY designed to put a block of Velveeta inside - NOT cheese slices or any other company's block cheese (you who have attempted that know who you are). The math: Kraft makes Velveeta. Kraft makes a box (but only every few years) to hold ONLY that company's block of cheese. Tupperware's iteration works just as good, and keeps the cheese from being exposed to the air and hardening as a result. Bottom line: No dried-out, cracked, crumbly cheese. There is no significant difference between Kraft's box and Tupperware's.

We liked this product when we first bought it. We used it for quite some time, but then we found that condensation would form on the inside of the container causing the cheese inside to mold quickly. Didn't see any cracks or anything that would cause it to do this, so we stopped using it. Before this happened it worked wonderfully keeping the cheese from drying out.

We had one of these for Velveeta since I was a child. It had seen its share of abuse (cheese is relatively heavy and the old one cracked when it was dropped a decade ago). When I saw they were being made again, I jumper on it. However, the design is slightly different leading to the lid being held on VERY securely. You may be called into the kitchen to open this for your spouse as if it was a stuck pickle jar. Other then that, keeps the cheese from drying out.

wasn't sure I bought what I was looking for, which was a holder large enough for sliced american cheese in the brick form. This is only large enough to handle bricks of normal unsliced cheese that is typical of the cheese aisle in the grocery store. We did find a larger one, and that is still too small for the "bogards" brand of sliced american cheese. I have used it for brick cheese however, and it definitely is nice to have instead of a ziploc bag, especially if you cut extra slices or chunks that you need to store.

I was disppointed when i tried to put my regular american cheese in there but it was a little too small. I had to cut my cheese in half to fit in there which not really a big deal to me. But i like the fact that i no longer have to use zip lock bag to store my leftover cheese and it fits perfect in my diary drawer. And I don't have to worry about my husband leaving the zip lock bag unzipped and waste my cheese.

I have a lot of different kinds of cheese that I have around all at once. I've been looking for an organizer for my apartment's refrigerator, which does not have a built-in cheese shelf/drawer. This works pretty well. I like the general shape and also the drawer that slides out. However, I wish it was about an inch and a half wider and taller and 5 inches deeper. It is a sturdy, well-made Tupperware product.

Maybe it is no longer 'cool' to admit to using Velveeta (go figure), but I happen to have quite a few recipes that require this cheese and they are yummy. I have found no better way to keep the block of cheese fresh (no dried out yucky ends) than this Tupperware Cheese Keeper. Yes, I have done the careful wrap of the open end in plastic wrap and placed it back in its box - but more times than not someone else in my family will get into it and not do my precise re-wrap - and then I go to use it and yep - dried out cheese. :-( The Tupperware container perfectly solves that problem. I highly recommend!

When our son moved out, he took our 30-something year old Tupperware cheese keeper with him so we were in need of a replacement. We weren't sure if we could still get one, but low-and-behold, found a new one here on Amazon. We wanted one just like the old one because it does such a good job of keeping either 3lb. blocks of Velveta or Land'o Lakes cheese fresh for a good long time. It is easy to open, and the slide-out tray makes getting the cheese block in and out a breeze. Thanks to Amazon for being able to fill our need!
