Rare Earth N52 Neodymium Keychain Gold & Silver Jewelry Test Magnet

I bought this item because I needed a strong magnet that I could carry on my keychain while going to yard sales and estate sales. I can discreetly check jewelry very easily now. The rare earth magnet has a very strong pull and works exactly as described. It is very well sturdy, as well.

This is a small, portable magnet that I use to test coins and jewelry. It has a rubber end cap covering the magnet head and a key ring to attach to your keys, if you so desire. It is useful for the purposes I have, and I recommend it if your needs are similar to mine.

After seeing this Magnet being used by workers at a scrap metal yard I started looking to purchase one. I need something that I can carry in my pocke with about 3 foot of bb chain when I have to retrieve a tool or something dropped while doing auto repair. It comes with a removable rubber cap so it will not attract and stick so tightly while in storage or in a pocket. Well Worth the Investment!

Works great for 100% gold and silver, but you can be tricked if it is plated gold or silver over brass or tungsten. I did have an honest jeweler tell me that an omega I was looking at was yellow gold plated over brass and that's why it wasn't real expensive. I tried the magnet, and sure enough, it didn't attract. My other omega that I'm told is expensive solid gold doesn't attract either. So...you can be fooled by it not sticking if they put another metal inside the plating that doesn't magnetize either.

To say this is strong is an understatement. I can't put it anywhere because it'll magnetize to something I have in my drawer. Even with the rubber cap it's got a strong pull. Good for sifting through jewelry or coins. I've had mine for almost three years now and it's still a beast. Excellent magnet for the price.
