Yes it is heaven weight cotton just short of being canvas

Wash it if if it stinks. By hand in very cold water, no soap, air dry. Repeat if necessary. I don’t know anything else. I seeee nusssing!!!!

The best way I can answer the question is to describe the material as a thick canvas. Before first use I did hand wash it in cold water and let it air dry. Fairly positive it doesn’t contain any synthetic material. I recommend it with confidence.
