If you put a bamboo duvet on the regular weighted blanket, would that make it cooling or you actually need the bamboo blanket?

I would go with the bamboo banket itself. I ordered 2 bamboo blankets, and they mistakenly sent me one bamboo and one cotton. The bamboo blanket is 1000% better, silkier and cooler than the cotton blanket. I'm returning the cotton one for another bamboo blanket.

Does the bamboo version really make a difference in retaining heat?

I bought both this cooling version for my husband and the regular, non-cooling one for me and we both can tell the difference. He gets too hot at night with mine and I'm not warm enough with his. But I think it's more appropriate to call this one a cooler version as opposed to a cooling one.
