Review: This novel was really amazing. The storyline is incredible and will get your emotions going, and I do not mean tears, anger and disbelief are more appropriate. I am going to read more books written by Gredd Olsen for sure. Review: I love this book. I love the story. I really appreciate how it’s written in short chapters. The characters are multi layered. The story is gripping. So good I had to read it twice. One of my favorites from one of my favorite authors.

Initially, this book was a little off-putting because of how gory it was. I mean, I didn't know what I was getting into. And admittedly it felt a little insane when I started reading it. I very rarely read books where the protagonist is also the villain, but this one did it in such a way that looking in from her eyes was the best way to approach it. Though she was the villain, a pretty insane one at that, the root cause of her villainy isn't inherent and others around her minimized the horrors she may have done because of how horrible they were themselves. The deception within the story made for a good read and I quite enjoyed it at the end. But there remained a theme throughout that maybe it went a tad too far, even with the ending. I guess it goes to show, that we never truly know our neighbors.

Very unhappy with the story. I couldn't believe someone would do that. It's creepy. I like his books but not this one

Excellent storyline featuring the "schmuck" husbands Owen and David, the "tormented" and "despicable" Liz, the "heart-broken" Carole and the "clueless detectives" Esther and Jake. When 3 year old Charlie disappears from his neighborhood why wasn't the area canvassed and thoroughly searched by the police? Liz, after hitting Charlie with her car, grinds the blood stain into the pavement to erase it. Wouldn't there be trace evidence still apparent on the cement if the police had thought to search garages, sheds, grass, etc., which they did not do. Doctor Miller, in his mind, only wanted to rescue little Charlie from the "stupid and worthless" people surrounding him. A different type of storyline, which I enjoyed. I am so tired of stories featuring serial killers, amnesiacs, psychics, the occult and the like, so this story was a refreshing change, as it shows that in just a few minutes how many lives are changed by one person's "bad" decision.
