This is a tea with good caffeine content, unlike your average tea which has only negligible amounts of it. Now, this does not mean that it loses it's essence or character because of it. TISOW Select Assam has two types of tea in its packet- Upper Assam & North Bank. Both have strong flavor & color. Really I like the flavor, Tea is strong and has good taste, I have tried many brands but this brand becomes my favorite one bcoz of its taste and color. For the purpose of making milk tea, this particular brand is quite good: have a strong combination of good color definitely pleasing fragrance, and taste that make you fall in love with this tea. Society HAS to be the best tea in the country, so far. And so when you try other brands, comparison comes to you naturally. Now, the most overhyped brands have failed miserably (Wagh Bakri and Taj) so bland and dull tasting. But Tisow has impressed me. It looked like tea dust first, so I was afraid I'd have to use more in quantity, but no. Same quantity, price is lesser than Society, it does not beat society (well, duh) but it's great tasting. The packaging blew my mind. Its BY FAR the best, most sophisticated, and safely packaged tea. AND they give a little zip locked masala too! (Tastes same as the Red society masala) Budget wise, you can definitely make this one a substitute. (Tip: I personally always add little bit of a local brand tea dust to my Chai just to add flavour and make it stronger. If you are buying this tea, it is a caveat emptor situation. In over 60 years of buying, brewing and drinking tea, I have never seen a tea like this, which has been CTCed so much that not even one CTC granule opens up after brewing. As to flavour, you need a strong nose to detect it. All you get is the smell of the wooden chest. Never again!
