This quinoa is delicious! I had heard about it's nutritious benefits when my mother encouraged me to try it due to it's great taste, knowing how conscious I was about putting healthy foods into my diet. So I finally bought this version and surprised the husband with it as a replacement for his overnight oats, and he absolutely loves it! I find it to resemble Cream of Wheat in cooked texture but with a more light nutty flavor, which as a child I adored. So adding all the beneficial prebiotic goodies like cinnamon, ginger, collagen, turmeric, chia seed, dried apricots, dried cranberries, blueberries, raspberries...well, you can add just about anything you want to this superfood to benefit your gut! Highly recommend due to it's organic foundation and vast nutritional boost! Excellent product, pleasant aroma (good nutty smell), looks very appetizing, and oh-so-easy to prepare in a matter of minutes. I precook, put into jars with additional organic coconut milk topper and healthy supplements, plus a tablespoon of raw organic honey (more prebiotics) and it really is an outstanding and delicious health boost. It refrigerates up to 4 days for freshness, so you can easily prepare in advance. I also enjoy it hot out of the pot slathered with a big chunk of organic 'real' butter, drizzled with honey and a layer of coconut milk (not water) over the top. So healthy and yummy! Looks amazing, too! Get it! You won't regret it! You can thank me later!

This Viva Naturals Quinoa came very quickly after ordering it and it is packaged in a heavy duty zip lock bag that holds two pounds of the quinoa. It is organic and pre-washed, gluten free and is a product of Bolivia. I eat quinoa about three times a week. It is one of my favorite grains and it is so easy to make. I love the nutty flavor and it goes well with anything as a side dish. This Viva Naturals quinoa smells very fresh and looks really great, too. First of all, I decided to try it by making one portion. A fourth of a cup of the quinoa is one serving, providing 165 calories and 6 grams of protein (wow). I rinsed the quinoa (now, that is a tricky part of quinoa because you have to have a decent siv in order to keep the small grains from going everywhere after you run the water off. But the quinoa usually stays in the bottom of the siv after you drain the water. So with the ¼ cup quinoa, I added ½ cup water (it’s usually always 1 part quinoa, 2 parts water) and brought it to a boil. After it boiled, I lowered the heat and let it simmer covered, on low for 15 minutes. At the end of the 15 minutes, I took it off the heat and let it sit for 5 minutes. When the 5 minute timer rang, I fluffed up the quinoa, poured it out in a glass bowl to take a picture of what one serving is like, and then ate it! I love this stuff! The Viva Naturals Quinoa has a really fresh nutty taste to it. It was very good plain, but I usually like to toss in some natural seasonings, onions, and a little chopped up broccoli or whatever veggies I have on hand (peas, carrots, corn, you name it). But for the sake of reviewing this product, I left it plain, and I have to admit, I liked it plain! This is really good and fresh quinoa, like I said, it goes with anything and is such a healthy choice of grains, full of protein! I would definitely recommend this brand after trying it and this two pound package is going to last for at least a few weeks in my house—everyone loves it here as a healthy alternative to unhealthy side dishes with our meals. We even like it cold, the next day after it’s made, as a leftover. YUM!! Disclosure: I was given this product with a promotional discount (or for free) in exchange for my honest and unbiased review. And, hey, I look at reviews before I buy something too, to make sure it’s a product that would serve my family in some positive way. I love to share my insight and opinion about the things I buy and I do so with Benjamin Franklin’s quote always in mind: Honesty is the best policy.
