Question 2

Are there nutrition facts?

Accepted Answer

Dear S. Beilstein
Here is the Information that you requested.
Caffeine Content: Approximately The caffeine content is 35-70mgs. The caffeine content can vary slightly depending on the type and quality of Matcha used.
So if we are talking 1 serving of matcha which is 1 gram or about 1/2 tsp, this will give you approx 72 mg of the EGCG catechin, matcha’s main antioxidant. And a total catechin content of about 110 to 140 mg per gram.

FDA suggests 210mg is a recommended amount of EGCG on a daily basis. EGCG only comes from tea by the way.

Matcha does contain other antioxidants like Vitamin C and E, but i have not seen an actual antioxidant daily recommendation. I’d suggest 1 to 2 cups a day of a high quality matcha will give you a decent amount of antioxidants to fight all those free radicals. Personally, I drink 2 cups a day, I dont get sick, and never see a doctor.

Question 3

What grade/color is the matcha powder?

Accepted Answer

Bright green powder, Matcha
Tencha that is stoneground immediately before shipping is called Matcha. Dark Matcha (Koicha) is used in Japan's traditional tea ceremony, and was previously made from the leaves of very old tea bushes - over 100 years old. In recent times, cultivar varieties suited to Koicha have been selected, while soil fertility management techniques and covered culture methods have been developed to provide the best tea for Koicha. Matcha is also used extensively in the making of traditional Japanese confections and various savory dishes. Another unique feature of Matcha is that unlike Sencha and other teas, when one drinks Matcha the leaf is fully consumed
