Good quality
Great replacement. After months of heavy usage still works fine as it should.

Solid replacement
It looks a few test runs and a cleaning DVD but thanks to this replacement, my PS3 works again. It didn't come with the four rubber circular feet, but I just used the old ones anyways.

Luck of the draw what you’re going to receive
These lasers are just ones pulled from junk PS3 slim’s, so hopefully you’re getting one from a PS3 that had a bad power supply or some other unrelated laser issue. The one I received had a bad/dead Blu-ray laser, and actually worked worse than the one it was supposed to replace. The PS3 uses the Blu-ray laser to ID the disc type first, then switches to the appropriate laser to continue reading the disc (infrared for CD, red for DVD, and blue-violet for Blu-ray). So if the Blu-ray laser is bad, then it won’t read anything because it can’t figure out how to proceed. Since all PS3 disc games are Blu-ray, this is usually the first laser to go bad. You’ll know the drive is having trouble ID’ing the disc by the eject-sounding clunk as it reseats the disc in attempt to trying ID’ing it again. Just wish these units were tested properly before being resold since that’s the whole reason for buying a replacement.

Fixed PS3 that couldn't read games
I was given a PS3 slim that would read CDs and DVDs but not games. Its worth a shot to clean the laser lens first with isopropanol alcohol and a q-tip (91% or preferably 99%) but I had no luck after cleaning. The replacement was clean and in good condition but there was a slight nick on the insulation of one attached ribbon cable that didn't affect functionality. Overall it was a pretty easy fix and it works great, make sure you get the right model though there are quite a few different PS3 revisions.

Will not play BDR discs.
It works great with commercially-printed bluray discs, but if you are planning to watch burned blurays, it has trouble and freezes up and you have to let it cool down before resuming the burned bluray disc.It does however play DVDs and PS3 disc games with no problem. Just needs better resistance to heat so it can handle burned blurays more easily.

Worked like a champ
Hopefully it will hold up well, but right now I'm totally satisfied with this. I swapped out the old part, tested the ps3 with the new one installed, and it will now read all disk types including games, which it would not read before replacing this.
