Crescent Buckwheat Pillow -- Excellent Product for Hip Pain
This is an excellent product, and not just for yoga practitioners. It is well-made and sturdy.I am a side-sleeper with relatively wide shoulders. I bought one of these pillows months ago for using under my head as a sleeping pillow. I was very happy with it, as it provided enough height for sleeping soundly, and does not lose height during the night.. Buckwheat hulls shift just enough to provide a wonderful cradling effect, and do not feel hard under the head.I had been using other types of pillows (synthetic fiberfill of various shapes and sizes) between my knees for hip pain relief (deteriorated hip cartilage), but found them to be less than perfect. I would sometimes wake up with more pain than the night before, if the pillow shifted or lost its loft during the night.I finally decided to order a second buckwheat crescent to experiment with for relieving my hip pain by placing between the knees. It is outstanding for this purpose, for several reasons. It stays in place much more effectively due to the shape and the buckwheat fill, since it can conform so well to the lower knee joint. It also stays a much more comfortable temperature during the night, again due to the buckwheat hulls providing tiny channels that prevent heat buildup. It retains its "loft". And I never wake up with one foot asleep due to compression against nerves and blood vessels like I did before with "normal" pillows. Some of the meditation pillows sold on Amazon look similar, but their zippered outer case is the only containment for the loose buckwheat hulls inside. That makes it difficult to wash the cover, since you have to worry about corralling the loose hulls as you empty the pillow covering, and then struggle to refill it again. You also find loose buckwheat hulls wherever you use it, since any zipper can gape a big under pressure.By contrast, this pillow is made with an inner zippered cloth pillow liner that contains the buckwheat hulls. You can easily remove the outer zippered canvas cover for washing without having loose buckwheat hulls lost everywhere.I would suggest careful review of any pillow that looks similar but costs less -- you may find (as I did) that such a pillow has no inner liner, let alone a zippered one like this.

Amazing support for yoga, stretching, mobility work
I use this in my yoga classes and love it! It's perfect for restorative yoga work, helps you sit up straight and is very comfortable. I did have to take some of the buckwheat out as it was extra firm, but it's great in that way so it can be personalized for each buyer. I just prefer a little less dense pillow so would rate my now as firm (with a little removed). Zipper access makes it easy to access buckwheat and the zipper opened and closed nicely. I feel that it is great for hip work and could offer some extra support or pain relief for someone who is not yet as flexible ( you will be so don't give up!). I ordered black, easy to keep clean! Highly recommend this product.

Firm without being too hard
Initial impression is that this is going to be great for my needs. I bought it as sort of a "booster seat" for a table that sits a little too high for me normally. This gives me boost without sinking down, and while it is very firm it isn't HARD which is wonderful! I also decided to test it on the floor since I wanted something versatile that could be multi-purpose, and it's even more comfortable there. I have never had a buckwheat hull cushion before, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I'm glad I took the leap. I can already tell I am going to like this. The construction on this appears to be very sturdy, and the cover is easy to remove with a zipper that traces the contours rather than forcing you to try and squish the inner lining out. The cover is made of a heavy, almost denim-like thick fabric that looks like it will hold up for quite some time.I only wish they made these a little bigger, because although it is wide enough for me to sit on, I would LOVE to see something more the size of a chair cushion made in this style with this level of craftsmanship for days when I'm a bit more tired and need extra spillover room on the edges. As it is this allows me to semi-perch which should be perfect for staying alert. Though a hint to other buyers: try flipping the cushion around backward if it starts to get uncomfortable. When using it as a booster seat instead of a floor seat, it seems to work well turned backwards for me.We will see how it holds up under long-term use, but first impression tells me this is going to be a keeper!**Update**After about a week of use the buckwheat hulls have settled into what I think is going to be their long-term position. The cushion still provides a lot of lift and firmness but is now better formed to my shape when I sit down.

Probably the best purchase of the year
I wrote off my inability to sit comfortably during meditation as my lack of skill or flexibility and tried to correct this with house pillows and posture changes.I'm so glad that I came across this pillow and decided to give it a try!Everything changed the moment I sat on it - I felt comfortable, grounded, and no loner needed to focus on body positioning when my focus should be on the mind.As for the pillow, it has it all.The kidney bean shape is great - ergonomic and not too large or small (I wear size 12 in women's pants if that helps). The fabric and stitching are excellent, and the buckwheat husks inside the interior compartment of the pillow are clean and plentiful. As a bonus, I use this pillow for propping a book up on while reading on the couch. If you're not sure whether you need one, I recommend giving it a try.

This is a really great little cushion
This is a really great little cushion! It seems well made and I love that it has a removable cover for washing. It's a good height and is very comfortable and it definitely aligns the spine well. I only gave it four stars because my outer cover seems to be a little bit bigger than my inner cover, which leaves some unsightly loose fabric (see photo). I also would have liked it to be just a little firmer, but that's a personal preference. It's a great product for the price!
