Yes, this item is made from very thick memory foam, but it's advertised that way. If you're looking for something less bulky, this isn't the product for you. What this cushion is fantastic for is placing your backside on it for long periods of time. If you work at a desk for any reason and remain there for more than a few hours at a time, this cushion will make your joints and back very happy. I do not find the memory foam to be too firm. I am male and weigh around 200lbs. The foam is thick enough that I do not sink in the cushion to the point it "bottoms out." If you're worried about the cushion raising you up too far, at my weight I seem to compress it roughly 2/3 of its depth. As such, I seem to only gain an inch or maybe a little bit more. Of course, because the foam is rather thick, when you first sit in it, it takes a minute or two for the foam to compress. When I first sit in it, it does feel like I've grown 3 inches, but after a minute, I feel normal. The cover is removable, and it isn't overly difficult to slide on and off. It isn't easy, but I didn't feel like anything was about to tear apart when I removed the cover to wash it. The only negative thing I can say about the cushion is that it has a very unique odor to it. It isn't overly offensive or off-putting, but the memory foam does smell a little odd. For this reason, when I received the cushion, I immediately washed the cover but realized the cover didn't smell. It was just the foam itself. I don't know how memory foam reacts to being soaked in water, so I haven't tried washing the foam, but I'm sure some kind of scent spray would mitigate the odor. That said, if you have a very sensitive nose, maybe this cushion isn't the best option. All in all, the odor doesn't prompt me to knock stars off.

First off, I'm not a bariatric patient. I weigh 130-132 lbs, naked and natural. I have a spinal injury which makes standing, walking, sitting and everyday living a challenge after being healthy and physically unimpaired my whole live, long life. I also own 4 "TravelMate Extra Large" and 4 "Memory Foam Seat Cushion. Orthopedic Car Seat Cushions to Raise Height - Office chair Comfort Cushion - Seat Foam Pad for Low Back Pain" , all bought on Amazon. These cushions are by far the best between those brands. The covers on these cushions do not 'roam' with use. They stay put unlike the other brands mentioned in this review. These are 1/2" larger both directions than the "TravelMate- Extra Large". Firmer, too. The "TravelMate" covers start showing wear and tear almost immediately, such as wear marks and picks in the ventilation holes. These covers are sorta like velour, nice and soft, ventilated, but grey in color, which actually is a neutral color so it goes with most thangs. Now, when using in your car or truck, you're gonna find in cold climates these and most other 'memory form' cushions become hard as bricks until warmed. I suggest not using your butt for this cuz it takes most of the day for mine warm again. I definitely would buy again and have already suggested them to my buds. Hope this review helps you decide on which cushion to buy.

This is the most comfortable cushion of several I’ve purchased. I wish it was a little firmer.

As a 5-foot-tall driver, this booster seat has been a great purchase. The seat is firm, supportive, and comfortable, and it gives me the extra height I need for better visibility while driving.

The first one I purchased from same store was firm. They are not as nearly as firm now. Quality not as good.

Works best for me on a firm chair or bench surface. Bottom cushion surface grips chair or bench. Attractive Velvet like top and side surfaces. Ships compressed in a tight roll and fluffs up quickly when released. Cushion thickness is an honest 3 inches but there is a small amount of compression when you sit on it... less than would be with a regular pillow. I think it would be quite possible to stack 2 together to get more height. I'm happy with it and may even order a second one.

This cushion has helped me so much. I use it on an ancient futon which is hard as a rock. The cushion is firm yet comfortable and prevents my back pain. I am really glad I invested in this product.

The cushion is excellent and supportive, its a shame we had to wait so long as the postage was disgusting
