Great stuff
Finally: a *verse* translation, in smooth iambic pentameter.A must for epic poetry readers who need something in between Homer and Virgil, and half the length :-)

It's a Classic!
I bought this as a gift for a person I knew from my old work named Jason. Since his name was Jason, I always joked with him and asked him, "How are the Argonauts today?" and he never understood the reference. I found out that not only had Jason never read it, he had never heard of it! So I HAD to buy it for him. The book quality is nice, which is what you can expect from Penguin. When it arrived, it was in great shape and had a beautiful cover like you see in the picture. Everything was good quality and I had no surprises with my order. When I gave the book to Jason as a gift, he was very appreciative (although if I'm being honest, he probably will not read it).

Easy to read
This is a very old text, so it's very nice that this edition is written in mostly modern language. Makes it very helpful to fully understand and appreciate the argonauts tale.

At Times Enthralling, Mostly Underwhelming
To avoid a doom foretold by a prophecy, the King of Iolcus sends Jason on an impossible quest: sail to Colchis and find the legendary Golden Fleece. He is joined by a volunteer crew of godly heroes, some of whom will be familiar to casual fans of Greek mythology. The Argonautica is mostly underwhelming. In many respects, it feels like The Odyssey's less talented kid brother. It does have one good thing going for it: Medea. The lines concerning Medea feature a swirl of complex emotion: tension, fear, hesitancy, desperation, lust. When Medea finally joins forces with Jason, Apollonius of Rhodes (or perhaps just Aaron Poochigian) manages to convey regret, despair, awkwardness, and terror perfectly. Medea makes the poem worth reading.
