Caught these at a great price. Durable, sharp, and quality made.

I think these bits will help me get started. ...
I think these bits will help me get started.Quality appears high.I wish it had included a 1/8" end mill bit. This seems to be one usedin almost every tutorial I have watched.

Typical Freud Quality. Excellent!
Every Freud Router bit that I’ve owned – and I’ve owned quite a few of them - are uniformly high in quality. These are no exception. If you recently purchased a CNC machine and need a set of bits, or need to fill in holes in your existing collection, these sets by Freud are a good place to start. The two sets have different purposes. 87-208 is intended more for general purpose CNC carving, while 87-108 has two narrow taper ball tipped bits that are specific to sign making…trying to use them in a handheld router pretty much guarantees that they’ll quickly break. Three of the bits in the 87-208 set have an “O-flute” design, which is highly polished and optimized for cutting soft plastic material. (There’s an excellent article on O-flute router bits on the Onsrud dot com web site.) All of the other bits are more general purpose in nature and can be used for most applications. In operation, all the bits that I’ve used cut beautifully...they're perfectly balanced and extremely sharp. With appropriate adjustment in the cutting parameters, you can use them on wood, plastic, aluminum and many other soft materials. They're expensive, but that's a reflection of their quality and the care taken in their manufacture. I have absolutely no hesitation recommending this set. Here are the contents of the two sets:(All bits have a ¼” shank unless otherwise noted.Dimensions are cutting diameter x flute length.)87-208:¼” x ½” Up Cut Spiral Ball Nose- Solid Carbide (Item #72-101)7.5º x 3/16" Engraving V-Groove- Solid Carbide (Item #70-103)1/8” x ½” O-Flute Up Spiral Bit -Solid Carbide (Item #73-762)3/16” x ¾” Up Cut Spiral Solid Carbide (Item #75-101)¼” x 7/8” O-Flute Up Spiral Solid Carbide (Item #75-025)1/8” x ½” O-Flute Straight Solid Carbide (Item #71-040)1/2" 90 Degree V-Groove (Item #20-104)1/2" 60 Degree V-Groove Solid Carbide (Item #20-152).87-108:¼” x ½” Up Cut Spiral Ball Nose- Solid Carbide (Item #72-101)¼” x 1-1/8” Up Cut Spiral Ball Nose- Solid Carbide (Item #72-202)6.2º x 1/32" Tapered Ball Tip -Solid Carbide (Item #72-300)5.4ºx 1/16" Tapered Ball Tip -Solid Carbide (Item #72-400)¼” x 1” Up Cut Spiral Solid Carbide (Item #75-102)1/8” x ½” Down Spiral Solid Carbide (Item #76-100)3/4" 90 Degree V-Groove (Item #20-108)½” shank, ½” carbide height1/2" 60 Degree V-Groove Solid Carbide (Item #20-152)

Excellent quality for hand guided or compuer guided (CNC) router use
I've always been pleased with the quality of Freud router bits, and this set continues that positive trend. Unlike bargain priced bits these run in my router without excessive vibration, cut cleanly and look to be made for very long time use. As a home/hobbiest user I'm sure I will never wear them out.The packaging plays up their "CNC" readiness, which means they are suitable for use in automated router machines, but they work great in traditional hand guided routers. Note that seven of them have a 1/4" shank while the one large V-cutter has a 1/2" shank.

Good but...
This is a great set and I would give it a 5 star rating except that the 90deg V-Bit has a 1/2" shank. If all the other bits have 1/4" shanks, why include a bit with a 1/2" shank? My machine can not take 1/2" shank bits, so I can use the 90deg V-bit :-(.

Not really a CNC kit-misleading.
I am new to CNC and bought this kit as well as a kit of end mills from Onefinity. This was really a poor choice and annoys me. Two of the bits, the large v bits do not work for me. I’m have a Makita 1/4” collet , so I knew the 1/2” 90 degree was a poor choice but thought the rest of the bits off set the price. Unfortunately, the 1/4” 60 def doesn’t work for me either and specifically because of the paint coat and geometry I can’t set my z axis using the the probe and homing feature. The paint coat interferes with the electrical current, making it not possible to home on a side that has paint touching the probe block. Well, that would seem to be something you could work around but the two flutes are diametrically opposed and what that means is you can either set the X axis or the z axis, depending on which axis you have the bare metal of the flute touch the probe. I didn’t realize this would be a problem.I broke a third 1/4” bit almost immediately, but will call that one my fault for improper work hold down.Anyway I wouldn’t buy this kit again

Freud quality is top notch
Freud has always been a high quality tool - and this package lives up to the name. The kit contains two flat bottomed bits (think end mill, but a down and up spiral variety), two ball nose bits, two tapered bits with a ball nose, and two V-groove bits. The bits are designed for CNC work, but would do a good job in a handheld tool as well, just maybe not the tapered bits. The bits are very sharp and I don't expect to wear them out anytime soon. The hard plastic case is really nice as well and protects this investment on your shelf. Don't buy junk, get some quality bits and you'll really like the performance!

Great bits.
Great bits. These cut very cleanly and they look like they will last a very long time. I have a bunch of ebay-level bits and these aren’t even comparable. If you can afford them, you’ll be very pleased. My only negative is that one of the bits (the 1/2" 60 Degree V-Groove Solid Carbide ) has a 1/2" shank that is too large to fit my CNC.
