Thick and sturdy bike hooks
I needed some bike hooks to hang our bikes in the garage. They were taking up too much space on the floor and I decided to purchase these hooks after seeing them on a DIY youtube video for a bike hanging solution. Man, am I glad I purchased these! These hooks are extremely sturdy, solid, thick, and simple to install. You can use a wall or ceiling mounted 2x4 piece to screw these hooks into, or you can screw them directly into a wall stud or ceiling joist.I ended up going the ceiling joist route and drilled a couple pilot holes using a 3/8" drill bit directly into the joists. I then screwed these hooks in all the way until I couldn't see the threads anymore and the hook was oriented in the direction I wanted. I hung the bikes up on them and they are extremely sturdy. I was nervous at first since I've never hung bikes from hooks in the ceiling before, but after having had them up for a few weeks now, they haven't budged one millimeter and show no signs of letting those bikes fall.I highly recommend you pick up these bike hooks for your garage and get some of your storage space back!!

Nice, thick, sturdy hooks -- great for hanging bicycles.
With these hooks I was able to hang six bicycles from my garage rafters. After a bit of research I concluded that I did not want the skinny hooks that seem to be more common and would be tight around a bicycle wheel (more difficult to hook a bike onto them and more likely to bend and fail under weight). So, instead I purchased these thick, sturdy hooks and they worked like a charm. They have a good wide arc, making it easy to hook bicycle wheels into them from below. In order to not split the rafters with fat hook screws, or to weaken them by drilling wide holes for the screws, I cut six short blocks of wood, each with one end at an angle to match the rafter angle, then drilled and screwed the hooks into the other end (so that the hooks hang vertically down -- i.e. not at an angle, which would place lateral pressure on them). I then used metal plates with lots of nail holes in them to anchor two sides of each of the blocks to the sides of the rafters. For the nail holes I drilled skinny holes and tapped in roofing nails. If I ever move house, I can pull out the side roofing nails from the rafters and retrieve my hook blocks with side plates attached, and then use them at the new location.

Don't be fooled by other, smaller bike hooks. These are what you need!
These hooks are what you want if you have a mountain bike or other wide tire. Other hooks that are marketed for bikes are really only for narrow road bike tires. These hooks measure 9" long and 4" wide (outside dimensions including anchor). The other "bike" hooks I have are 6" long and 2.5" wide. They could technically fit a mountain bike tire but it's tight and you have to squeeze it in there. Just get these and it will be so much easier to pop your bike on and off. I bought the 6-pack so I also used the extras to hang up a kids wagon and stroller. They rubber coating is thick and sturdy and doesn't look like it will peel off like the vinyl coating of my other hooks.Use a 3/8" pilot hole for stud mounting. These also came with drywall anchors but I didn't need to use any so can't comment if 3/8" is sufficient for those.

BIGGER AND BETTER! These are a must have to hang your MTB.
These ARE the droids you’re looking for! If you’re looking for truly sturdy bike hooks, these are much larger and stronger than the “standard” ones. (See photo) I bought and returned another set of so-called extra heavy duty hooks. Those inferior ones were even wimpier than the old ones I have. If you’re a mountain biker, you want these ones, as they’re big enough to accommodate your 29x2.6” tires no problem! Aside from being much larger and heavy duty than my old hooks, the rubber coating seems to be more sturdy. (Hence I am replacing my old hooks) I cannot vouch for the wall anchors that came with these, as my hooks are just mounted directly into wood.

Works as designed
Just received this and it is strong. I would prefer if the threads were 2-4” longer. I would buy this again if they extended the threads. As it is now it will only allow you to put a tire through it. In order for you to mount to the frame of a bike you’d have to put a wood brace first and then may have enough room off the side wall. I’m positive it will hold from ceiling but I prefer side walls.

Big and sturdy hooks for organizing
These books are awesome. My husband has a lot of bikes and bike wheels. We mounted these hooks to a 2*4 by drilling holes in the wood and screwing the hooks into it, then mounting the wood to the garage ceiling studs. The garage is so much more organized now and my husband’s bikes and bike wheels are safely hanging and will not get broken or scratched leaning against each other. These are big and sturdy enough to hang a mountain bike. We were thrilled with the quality of this product.

very heavy duty
These hooks are big and sturdy. Way nicer than anything I've ever found at the hardware store. When I ordered them I thought they were a little pricey but they are totally worth it for the quality. These will last forever.I don't know what they expect you to use the plastic sleeves for though. It's not like you could use them to attach these to just drywall, they would destroy the drywall. These need to go into studs or other thick, sturdy wood.

Great product
I needed to hang the bikes in the garage and these were an excellent choice. Because I had 3 bikes to hang and I wanted to minimize the space, I put a piece of 3/4" plywood across and screwed it into the studs, then I screwed these into the board. You should pre-drill the holes, don't just try to screw this into the board first. If you are only hanging one bike, you can find a single stud in your garage, but you don't want to anchor this into only drywall, a bike is too heavy. You can see in the picture that if you alternate and put a bike upside down, you can minimize the distance between them, otherwise the handlebars get in the way.

Excellent Hooks, Unusable Anchors
If you have studs you can screw these hooks in, get them! They're very strong and well made. I suspended two bikes and a wheelbarrow with zero concern that these will hold everything. Make sure you drill a pilot hole slightly smaller than the threading beforehand or you're going to have a bad time!As for the wall anchors, well, they're essentially useless. They are far too small to accommodate the thread diameter of the hooks, so what happens is your anchor will just spin in the wall. I couldn't even get one to screw on by holding it with a pair of pliers, that's how inadequately sized they are.

They do what they do
I use these for my bikes. Have purchased them before from a hardware store but thought I would try Amazon this time. This is a good price for 6 and I would recommend if you need them to buy here. Installed 2 of them already with another two ready to be installed. Just make sure you use the correct drill bit to drill your pilot hole. I believe I am using a 5/16 bit. If you are unsure try smaller bits first. They come with some drywall inserts but I would highly not recommend using them unless it is for very light weight applications.I have only used these mounted vertically from the ceiling so I am unsure if they are any good when mounted horizontally, such as into a wall.

Great quality, great deal
Good quality, better than the ones I purchased from a Canadian store that sells tires which were $7 a piece. The rubber seems to be better adhered to these. My heaviest bike is in the low to mid 30 lbs range and there is zero flex. These should work with any bike (even fat bikes). My only concern with this style hook is the rubber coming off and Samsung your rims, but as I stated before these seem better built than similar ones I've purchased.
