Shimano BR-T4000 V-Brake - Rear, Black

These were a perfect replacement for my 19 year old Trek 7300. Better than new and easy to install !!!

Have a bicycle with this style brakes on it. The originals had little plastic pieces in the pivot area. Like all the plastic junk, they eventually broke, making the brakes impossible to adjust properly, and negatively effecting braking performance. Ordered these to replace them, and very happy with them. They have no plastic parts, they fit without any problems, and they adjusted up nicely. Much better quality than the original parts, and they perform like they should. Zero complaints.

Replaced a non-branded set of V brakes with these and they worked perfectly. The replaced set would not balance correctly and one side always rubbed. Would purchase again.

These are awesome and made for the old 26" MTBs. I installed MAXXIS 2.3 x 26" on my old retro MTB and this brake set saved me from having to buy smaller tires. The AVID on my mtb where rubbing the new tires and I knew they were not safe to use. These are a game changer 100%!

Overall it is a good quality product for the price. Installation was easy and straightforward with one easy modification. Still waiting on cable and housings so havent used it yet but don't foresee any problems. I have two issues with these brakes. The first is the marketing. I can only find a front one or a rear one from a different seller, so I bought the rear and for a couple of bucks more and a longer shipping date I bought the front from a diffefent seller. I get the first one, install it, wait for the second, install it. They are both EXACTLY the same. So if you need both and can't find one or the other, get 2 rears or 2 fronts. They both come with the same degree bend and length of the noodle and come with short and long bolts. See photos of the noodles. The other issue is the design flaw others have mentioned where the brake doesn't fully seat against the post base leaving a gap in photo3. It also leaves a lot of fore and aft play of the brake arm. This is an area that collects a lot of water and grit and the back and forth movement will grind away at the post and bushing. My solution was to use two appropriately sized O-rings. Aplly grease to the base of the post and slip the Orings to the base, photos 4 & 5. After tightening the bolt to proper torque(6NM or 53inch lbs) the Orings compress and fill the space. Most of the fore and aft movement is reduced, it fills the gap and doesn't add any friction at all to the brake arm movement.

I upgraded my bike’s brakes to the Shimano BR-T4000 V-Brakes, and they’ve been absolutely perfect. Just replaced low quality brakes on wife's Schwinn. Amazing upgrade for the money. Easy to install. easy to adjust!
