The ultimate mixer—even at $500
I bought this as a Christmas present for my wife (the baker) back in 2019, as part of the promotion other reviewers have mentioned. Back then, I paid $260 for it, which in hindsight might be one of the best deals we've ever seen. Obviously prices are not now what they were then, but I can tell you this: based on all of the delicious goodies I've eaten over the last four years, if you love to bake, you cannot make a better purchase than this mixer, even at the 2024 price point of $500 (you should obviously wait for a deal if it's not an imperative purchase). The reasoning is very simple: this is an appliance you buy for life. This is NOT like the Artisan series of mixers in that it has an all-steel construction which is built to last as long as steel is durable, and is therefore worth shelling out the extra few dollars to buy. My mother has had hers for 15 years and it's still working like new. All you need to do is clean it appropriately after each use, which is easy enough to do (that's my job). In the four year's she's owned it, my wife has used it over 100 times by now and baked all manner of goodies—cookies, cakes, bread, and other kinds of dough. The 6 qt size will very likely be large enough for even the largest projects, ensuring that no matter the enormity of the baking adventure, you will find this mixer suitable. The main cons, as others mention, are the large size (you pretty much have to store it on a countertop) and the noise. These are irrelevant though, because you'll be getting a piece of equipment that will likely outlive you and function dependably beyond that. So if you're on the fence between this and one of the lower-priced Artisan models, yes, it's worth the extra price to get this one, which is as much an investment as anything else. It will be the last mixer you ever purchase, and that's something you won't get anywhere else for the price—even at $500.

Quality machine but its big!
Haven't used it too much yet but it is obviously a large powerful machine that should serve any serious baker well. It's probably overkill if you are a casual baker who won't use it that often or who only does small batches. You better like the way it looks and choose your color carefully because it is pretty large and hard to store anywhere but on the counter top. Even if you have a cabinet tall enough, it would likely be pretty hard to get out and put away. I saw it as a 'deal of the day' and bought it as a gift for my daughter. She likes it but I probably would have gone with the smaller tilt head model if I'd realized how big it is. We got the red - it isn't as fire engine red as it looks in the picture; it's a more muted and deeper red.

Reliable, quality product! Speeds up any mixing and even cleanup
This works as advertised. If you've ever had KitchenAid before, it's the same great quality as it's always been. The lift bowl feature does save space in the dishwasher by eliminating the base sticking out. It was a skill to learn on how to attach the bowl to the mixer, but I've got it down now! I recommend purchasing this if you ever plan on baking, making dressings or sauces, grinding meat, or anything else this product is capable of. I'm about to try out the sausage stuffer attachment with the meat grinder.

works great for bread
I love the fact its doing the kneadling and not me. Flour is better mixed with yeast, and other additives to breads. Pleanty of power for a 4 pound load. My hands get soar thinking about the kneadling process. Age related, lol

I. Love. It.
I make my own bread for health reasons. I used to have a cheap stand mixer, and then my boyfriend and I decided to buy this for ~50% off during a deal of day. I could not love it more even if I tried. It has made my bread making process so much faster and easier. I don’t need to spend as much time kneading my dough, and the plastic guard makes adding flour so much less messy. 100% would recommend to anyone. My grandma and mom want to start making homemade bread too, but their hands and wrists can’t handle the kneading. I told them to invest in one of these babies.

Great KitchenAid stand mixer. Big.
I bought it on a Prime day, so at a significant discount to replace a KitchenAid "Artisan" line stand mixer. It's a big KitchenAid mixer. Almost enough said. My only comments is that it is a little loud compared to the smaller "Artisan" and sometimes it can be tricky to make a small batch of something. Big bowl, big attachments: needs enough ingredients to work with. If you aren't doing big batches on a regular basis then the smaller models will probably work better for you.

Great deal, but not sure if it’s worth it.
I had the 4qt mixer for almost 10yrs, and only upgraded because of the great deal I got on this. I can’t give it 5 stars because there are a few things I don’t really love about it. I do love the bigger size bowl, and I do love how the speed gradually turns on. I don’t care for how the bowl hooks on. You have to try a few times to clip it on. Also, the mixer attachment, for eggs and such doesn’t really get to the bottom of the bowl, so you need to stop and mix by hand. I’m going to buy the flex edge beater attachment to see if that gets everything.

If you enjoy baking/cooking, or even if you don't but you have to, you should have a look into this kind of appliance. Don't trust who tell you that you can knead dough by hand and be just fine, that's a lie. Although you can technically obtain some result, it will never be as good. Also, handling special kinds of dough high in butter would be too hard, as you need to be quick and pay attention not to warm that up while kneading. They also say the best design is the simplest one that works, and I can relate that to this product, as it's so intuitive you don't need to know much about it, you just use it and wait a couple of minutes for great results.
