Very bad product! I've used others in the past with much better results.The Transmitter requests you to open the battery case to turn it on. Why.The smoker temperature is showing 50+ degrees high. I have three thermometers on the smoker all reading within 2 degrees of each other while the ET73 reads 50+ degrees higher.My Remote Receiver is within 12 feet of the smoker yet once I leave the smoker area the remote reciever continues to read the exact same temperatures without ever changing.Getting hold of SmartHome (the parent company) is nearly impossible. As of now I've been on hold for "Product Service" for 40 minutes.

Much better than my Acurite for not much more money. Works great. I can sit in my recliner and know what is going on. I do a lot smoking and this works perfectly for and old man. What I do not like is every time you shut it off and go to use it again you have to sync transmitter and receiver to each other again. Not difficult and easy directions are provided. Just a pain and should not have to be done. Hence the four otherwise it would get a five.

This was a waste of money. I bought the thermometer to use in my Weber smoker. I've had good luck with a different brand of single channel meat thermometer, but purchased this to be able to monitor the smoker temperature as well. The meat thermometer stopped showing an increase in temperature at about 155 degrees, and the switches on both the transmitter and the receiver stopped working after about 3 times. They stuck in the "On" position.Save your money, buy a different brand.

I like it except for one small thing, you have to open one of the electroic pieces to cut it on. Really - design flaw. No one wants to do that. If yuo can fnd one with the on/off on the outside, buy it instead.

It's worthless, did not work wright out of the box.

Thing this is a pile of junk. Why anyone would think this is anything more than 1 star is beyond me. Basically what you are buying is an expensive transmitter. Unless you plan to stay within a few feet the receiver is completely useless. My bedroom is within 20 feet of my grill. Couldn't use it in there. Couldn't use it most places inside. Biggest waste of money I've spent on my grill.

I have a different Maverick unit which I love... this unit is a major PITA to adjust settings... so I just turn off the stupid warning buzzer
